I'll bet you're closer than you know----Rummy IS an old fighter pilot and DOES speak the language---when the need arises.
Well now that he's long gone I can safely say that he was here at Balad.
He missed our incoming (5 or 6 mortars) about three hours ago this morning.
PLEASE!
Let's not mention Hillary and "behind" in the same sentence!
I just ate!
Did you get to see him?
Are you seeing all that contention in the Stars and Stripes Letters/Opnion pages lately as a result of some idiot writing and saying The Snake is "not a combat zone?"
FReepers are the best!
No, didn't get to see him. It was invite only.
I haven't been reading S&S lately, too much Reuters and AP, just like reading the Washington Post.
The joke at Balad is "if they can run street sweepers on the roads (which they do), then it's not a combat zone."
MNJ, I went to the link you recommended and they didn't deal company & field grade officer issues.
Being a relative newbie here at FR you might notice a few things.
1. I've been around here since 1998. I have a paper trail. Anyone can check hundreds of my old posts to see if there is even a bit of the DNC spin machine in my blood. They would discover there isn't.
2. Anyone checking would also notice that I'm a retired Army Chaplain. I've spent my career informing commanders when the morale of their troops needs attention. It is the case with the company & field grade officers. Last year they had the highest divorce rate in living memory....maybe ever. The reason is that they have been deploying constantly since Clinton's 1995 foray into Bosnia....which was to take only 1 year, he promised, but somehow we're still there, a fact absolutely unnoticed by the DNC and the NYT. This constantly deploying army is harder on this level of officer, because it's the level when they are trying to make their mark. The optempo makes it virtually impossible NOT to shortchange the family.
These guys are being rode hard and put away wet, and the one thing a good commander can do is give a few well-placed attaboys to them. Rummie should do that. (He's actually pretty good at it when he puts his mind to it.)
A person who checked might also suppose that I still have some really solid active duty contacts. Which I do.
I love it when the administration does that...
suprise trips to Iraq. He heee. Keeps the media so offguard!
The Rummster at his best!
