Settler split in Gaza

Exclusive: Gush Katif settlement of Ganei Tal on the verge of splitting after 46 families express their willingness to leave voluntarily; 30 families oppose move, threaten to set up alternative institutions

By Ilan Marciano and Elad Tena

GANEI TAL - An unprecedented controversy in the Gaza Strip settlement of Ganei Tal is threatening to split the community apart.

Some 30 families are demanding that all other residents be kicked out of settlement after they expressed their willingness to voluntarily move to two other communities as part of the framework of the upcoming pullout.

The affair began after 46 families from Ganei Tal agreed to sign an internal memorandum expressing their willingness to move out of the community as a group.

The families are intending to hand over the required documents to Disengagement Authority to facilitate the move in the next two days.

However, another 30 families in the community are furious at the arrangement, with some settlers telling Ynet that the community is on the brink of collapse. The sources said it now appears the settlement would be split into two, with separate officials representing each group.

The solution offered by the government to Ganei Tal residents who agreed to leave is terrible and partial, one settler said.

“A better solution for the entire community can be found,” he said.

Fight over tactics

"There are those who say that one should go now, but we argue the opposite," one long-term resident told Ynet. "Every settlement in the bloc should cut ties with the government and join us because theirs is a wasted effort … If in the end, they evacuate us, so we'll all go together."

The hardliners also oppose the idea having to graduate from hotels, to luxury mobile homes, to permanent communities and believe that those who leave now are in jeopardy of being left at the whims of the government.

Said the old-timer, "Who knows how long they'll remain refugees?"

Take a good look at Ganei Tal in the pictures. The Palestinians, with so many living in abject poverty, want this community bulldozed. These are people qualified to run a country?

You know, FRiend, it's hard to peg exactly where you are on the whole disengagement plan. A year ago you struck me as supporting it.

That being said, the impending destruction of the outstanding productivity you allude to of the Jewish people throughout Gush Katif is only one aspect of the bitter moral crime about to be inflicted on this land.

Well you have to understand, the houses may be pretty to you, but not to the eye of a Jihadi Arab. Look at the city right behind it. Not a single tree stands. Arabs do not like trees and lawns. The houses are too small for the extended family's that Islamics use, the housing the UN supplies in the refugee camps is much larger, and well, frankly, these houses are Jewish. How do you wash the blood, sweat and tears of Jews out of the homes and businesses they built from scratch in the sand dunes. It permeates the very concrete. Everywhere you look it will remind you of what you did not earn, what you could not build, and what you can not buy.

Besides according to the Koran, Jews are pigs and dogs, unkosher animals, not humans at all. Would you go live in a barn?

Also these houses are on small lots of land with deeds, the entire city behind it is built on stolen land with no order or structure to it. Stolen bread is sweet to a thief, but quickly grows stale. When a bully in a child's sandbox sees the other child's hard labor bearing fruit that he was not willing to labor to create, he does not want to posses it, he wants to stomp it. The Arabs in Israel are tyrannical bullies living on stolen land, and being squatters, they hate those who actually purchase their land, work hard and build industries, while they, being lazy, have produced nothing near as nice.

It hurts their self image. So they feel the need to kill, steal and destroy. Besides, that is holy according to the Koran. In case you wondered why the Liberals love the Muslims so, it is because they follow the same teachings...the 6th century tenants of liberalism; diversity, political correctness in the form of hate crime, pass/no fail systems and Globalism all having started THERE.

One of the sticking points vis a vis the settlements has been their alleged priority access to water supplies. I've heard conflicting facts on this topic, but these pictures suggest that indeed they do have such access, and its understandable that this would be a point of contention.

"WAAAAAAH! They stole our water!" is a classic Arab whine. The Arabs have the same access to the water supply that the Jews do. There is no "Jim Crow" reservoir with separate taps for "Arab water" and "Jew water." What the settlements have is a reliable delivery system (infrastructure). Indoor plumbing helps too.

I just shake my head and mutter, "what is going on?" Giving hard fought for land which, as I read the Hebrew Scriptures, rightfully belongs to the Jews, is wrong. It makes me sick, literally, to think about it.

Even so, Lord Messiah, come quickly. Restore to Israel the glory of the earlier days.

Shema, Yisrael!

Think about what you are saying. The water in Gaza consist of pivate wells, just how do Jews get priority access to well water? Does God shut of the springs to the Arab wells and turn on the springs to Jewish wells? On the very surface, this is silly. But the story of the wells does run a bit deeper. Well, (har har), as usual, the Media Jihad ignores fact and trades in fantasy. The truth of the matter is that a few hundred million dollars was given to the Arabs and the Jews to each build well systems and sewage plants in Gaza as a relief aid thing from the Uncle Sucker.

The Jews built the wells and sewage systems as they tend to keep their word but then determined that their tiny segment of the population in the Gaza strip would have to forgo using the water for agriculture needs because the watershed could not sustain the demand.

The Arabs with a much larger population spent the money on Guns, and did not build additional wells or sewage plants.

The Jews solved the problem for themselves by building at their own cost water treatment plants and a main waterline all the way from the north end of the country in the Galilee to supply hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of water, daily. They also at this time decided to split at no charge the water they brought down with the Arabs as they were running dry. And besides, one cannot even deny your enemy water in the desert. So when they built the water main, they built it many times larger than they needed for themselves. The Hundreds of Millions of Shekels to do this they paid out of their own pockets. Its a responsible Government kind of thing to do.

The Arabs having built no sewage treatment plants, and not wanting to bother to pipe the sewage over to the nearby ocean just dumped their sewage out on the ground. It then proceeded to poison the water table with raw sewage. They then over pumped the old wells for agriculture use despite the warnings causing most of the wells to fail except the lucky guys with the deep wells. They can draw sewage.

Now how did the Arabs fix their problem? They piped the fresh treated water from the tiny Jewish presence to all of Gaza (for a fee of course) and then proceeded to blame the Jews for their dry wells.

The media, jumped right on the Jihad band wagon.

As usual.

The "point of contention" is that the Jews are getting "priority access" to the water that the Jews are pumping in from the Galilee 150 miles away. Should not the guy that carries water from the well get to drink from his own bucket first before he shares his water from his bucket from his well with his neighbor?! Do you really have a problem with this "priority access"?

Now you tell me, what is Gaza going to drink now that the 5% of the population that supplied 100% of the water is being driven from their homes?

Why let them drink sewage I would say. They were paid to build well systems and sewage plants. Let them do so. But I would not give them a single drop of water to drink from the towns that they are stealing and trashing.

The money they were given, plus the interest it would have drawn would build a nice desalination plant for Gaza city.

Better start now, because in 3 weeks, they will have no drinking water. But all clouds do have a silver lining, at least the water shortage in Israel will be over. Perhaps it will be legal to wash my car with a hose again.

By the way, the Jews invented a water recycling system that mixes sea water with the piped in water from the wells that waters the plants automatically at their salt tolerance levels. It is working wonderfully in turning the deserts green! They determine the salt tolerance level for each plant and mix the water to deliver water that is just under the level that the plant would be harmed. All computer controlled.

Just goes to show you that instead of complaining about your situation, with a little determination and a lot of hard work you can fix it. Like most squatters, the Arabs sit around moaning about how much they do not have and spend their time begging for more.

The only problem is that this batch of Arab League squatters are psychopaths. My bet is once they are given Gaza, they will burn it to the ground and proceed to attack Israel. The next range of city's that they will be able to reach is the Oil pipeline and power plants that supply them the oil and power for Gaza. Being absolute fools, they will not be satisfied with destroying their water supply, they will want to destroy their gas and power supplies too.

After all, cave men do not need water, oil and power...

The problem with your posts that I have is you constantly shoot off your mouth on things you do not bother to research and slander Israel. You do your damage and then like a coward, you run. You never bother to apologize for your slander, you never bother to print a retraction and worst of all, you never change your Antisemitic viewpoint but continue to be a member of the Jihadi war on Jews and America.

When are you going to repent of your deeds and actions and become a responsible member of YOUR society? Before or after you stand before God who will "Judge you by the very words of your mouth".

You see, God is a FReeper too, and He reads your stuff. And God, a good friend of mine, has a very good memory.

He remembers your every word.

You're losing it.

I said I've heard conflicting facts on the water situation. It's certainly a point of contention vis a vis the settlements in general, and my comment was that this picture supported the view that the settlements were using a lot more water.

There is indeed a ongoing USAID program in the occupied territories. What I don't see is anything about separate systems. In point of fact, the US government will not allow aid money to be used for settlements. So your scenario is unlikely at best, any such system would be joint and would continue after disengagement happens. Piping it in from Galilee makes more sense, but there it's being diverted from the residents of that area....and the issue continues.

Once the Palestinians have access to a section of the Jordan River, their water access will improve. Meanwhile, it looks like USAID has the situation in hand for now.

By the way, they are stealing nothing, but that's an issue that we have been over again and again. No one moved to Gaza not knowing that Israel had not annexed the land and that no one outside of Israel thought civilians had any business moving there. It was a geopolitical gambit by a segment of the Israeli population, a gambit expressly forbidden by the Geneva Convention for precisely this reason. It's failing, as it inevitably would once a segment of the Palestinians emerged that was willing to be sensible.

You'll never see me apologize for a damn thing I say on here, nor would I expect you or anyone else to. Liberals are obsessed with such things because they deal in emotions, not facts. Around here, we throw around facts and ideas suported by facts. I'm not going to convince you that the Palestinians deserve any consideration, you're not going to convince me that Israel has any business in Gaza. It's the other readers, less convinced of their views, who are the target.

But I must say that your professed intimacy with God's opinion regarding our internal FR squabbles is kinda wierd.

You're losing it.

Since when is stating history loosing it?! It simply has happened they way I put it even if you do not want to believe it because it conflicts with your viewpoint of Jews from 9000 miles away.

I said I've heard conflicting facts on the water situation. It's certainly a point of contention vis a vis the settlements in general, and my comment was that this picture supported the view that the settlements were using a lot more water.

If I told you the moon was made of blue cheese would it become then an issue? Try looking into what happened instead of what everyone, meaning all the leftist tripe and Arab propaganda says. Facts tend to stand for themselves. Besides, IT"S THEIR WATER, THEY PIPED IT IN FROM THE GALILEE!

There is indeed a ongoing USAID program in the occupied territories. What I don't see is anything about separate systems. In point of fact, the US government will not allow aid money to be used for settlements.

Hello? I am talking about what has happened, not what will happen or what may happen. Do you think those farms are watered with future water so the plants are green now? I am doubting your grasp on reality at this point!

Piping it in from Galilee makes more sense, but there it's being diverted from the residents of that area

Yes, piping it in from the Galilee does make more sense, must be why the current residents did it years ago, ya think? What is with you that you cannot entertain fact in your search for fantasy?

Once the Palestinians have access to a section of the Jordan River, their water access will improve. Meanwhile, it looks like USAID has the situation in hand for now.

Oh dang. I am dumbfounded. You are telling me that the Arabs do not have access to the Jordan (think west BANK of the Jordan river.) Then you say their water problem with be resolved, ignoring the fact that the Jordan is dry more than it has water because Jordan uses all the water for their agriculture (against the treaty's they signed, but what Islamic is expected to keep his word with a Jew). And you top it off that some government bureaucracy that has done nothing yet has the problem well in hand?

To top it off you brag that you are interesting in fact not emotion.

Try very hard to understand this ok? I simply told you what HAS happened to date. It takes no emotion, nor any real effort, just knowledge. Now if you do not like my history, you are welcome to refute it by simply researching yourself to see if I made it all up and am lying. But if you look, you will see what I said is true.

However, if you insist in trying to research in speculative rhetoric instead of simple fact, you will find nothing but more confusion.

Look guy, I am not Mr super smart, I simply live here for now. This is easy for me because I see what is going on right in my own neighborhood. For you, I understand that it is much more difficult. You are buried in rhetoric, feed a news feed that is politically corrected and are being driven to a war with Israel. You can either check what I have to say is true or not, and thereby learn to trust that I am not a liar, or you can continue to try to figure out the situation from your position of being buried in smoke and mirrors.

You hate Israel, that is plain from your always siding with the liars against them. Time and time again I point out your mistakes and time and time again you refuse to learn. I simply think you do not want to know the truth at this point, the fantasy is more important to you.

As to God, I am in a position of trying to explain color to a blind man. Because you cannot see the spiritual side of life, does not mean you are not affected by it. There is a war between good and evil, and evil hates people who love God. That is why America and Israel are now just about at war with the whole world. Even Europe, who's bacon we have saved multiple times hates us. Do you ever wonder why? Why does Islam hate us, we have saved more Muslims from being wiped out than any other country in the world.

Still they hate us. Get a clue?
