No, but Gen. Richard B. Myers is, and I wonder if he cleared this PC crap through his CIC?

No, they are just facing reality. Politicians have to choose their words carefully (which makes your statement all the more relevant), and being in a "war" implies a beginning and an ending, along with various ways to measure progress. None of that applies to what we are facing in Iraq, for several reasons:

1)This "war" is not confined to Iraq (sure, that is where most of the overt action is taking place, but there are many other countries represented by insurgents there).
2)This "war" (or "struggle" now), has been going on for centuries. It's only in the past six decades that the US has joined it, first through the support for creating the nation of Israel, and then continuing support for Israel. We've only really been openly engaged since they killed our Marines in Lebanon.
3)There have been large periods of no overt activity, broken up by various attacks (the first WTC attack, the barracks and embassy bombings, etc.)

I think it's actually smart. It was stupid to cast this as a war that we could just walk in, replace Saddam, and walk out. I won't even go into the WMD crap, because that was just a cover-up for doing what needed to be done, only Bush didn't have the guts or the numbers to come out and say that at the time. In retrospect, had he come out and said what should have been said, that "we need to take care of these problems in Iraq, in Afghanistan, before they become problems that we have to take care of in our own backyard", I think it would have been easier to digest by some in this country than "we have to find the WMDs". The whole WMD search distracted and used up valuable time and resources that could have better been spent elsewhere.
