the problem with bringing this out NOW, is that the FIGHT is currently NOT over yet.

But if the fight's over then there's no need to change the name. I understand wanting to broaden the focus, but this just looks to me like an admission of wrongdoing. Bush and friends have been arguing a multi-faceted approach since day one. The media and the democrats are the ones misleading and lying about it, and I really don't see how a name change accomplishes anything.

Spot on. (and it is appearing somewhat of late that there is probably a need for a gut-check time by some p*ssyfoots within the WH - Those that don't have the stomach or courage to stay in this fight 110% need to be purged by CIC).

A war and a struggle are 2 different things.

We're fighting a war. We will have to "struggle" to maintain the advances and accomplishments we've made. And any country not currently fighting the war with soldiers on the ground in the war zone can join the "struggle against violent extremism" in their own ways as we are struggling against it in the U.S.

But our military in Iraq, and Afghanistan and Pakistan are fighting a war.
