Indeed, a 5.6 can be interesting, but the 6.8-ish one we had in 2001 was a bit of a roller-coaster.

I'm nearly 100 miles away, and it was quite the experience.

Earthquake Studies - Events of Interest
 
          In this section are links to significant seismic events that have expired from the Interactive Seismicity Maps pages. All the data from the pages will be accessible, as well as a short writeup by the staff.

The August 20, 1999 Red Rock Valley Earthquake - At a magnitude of 5.3 mb, the largest seismic event to occur in Montana in the last 25 years.
The February 28, 2001 Nisqually Earthquake (Washington State) - While not a Montana earthquake, the magnitude 6.8 Nisqually Earthquake was extremely significant.

The August 15, 2000 Centennial Valley Series - Five events in one Day.
The June 28, 2000 "Rock Creek" Earthquake. - The largest event in the year 2000 (4.5 mb)

I felt it last night just south of Great Falls. I was on duty and just stepped out of my car. Wasn't sure if I was losing my grip or what so I checked here now that I'm home. It wasn't too strong but feel-able.
