Funny you should mention the Fair Tax. On Saturday we went to a fundraiser for a candidate for House district 106 and Congressman John Linder was there.
He came up and gave me a hug and then stated for all to hear.."I kept waiting for you to bring up the Fair Tax while on stage with the President"....when I told him that I had considered it but thought better when I knew the only reason I was there was SS reform and didn't want to rock the boat...Linder thought I could have brought the house down with the Fair Tax comment. Heck, I can think of a couple of other issues I could have talked about...FR gives one plenty to think about!!
Ahhh, another great story you have. Glad to hear you're well aware of what a fine legislator Georgia has in John Linder. One more thing. In case you didn't see the thread on the End of AMT, I think the Fair Tax Act could be combined with SS reform to provide the keys to a solution. First, the Fair Tax would support SS with a much broader tax base than just employees/employment. Second, the Fair Tax would be the foundation for more robust economic growth, which is essential to make SS sound. Best to you.
