You may be right but I would suggest that on a dirty little island like Aruba, Jossy's goal might be to direct the news away from his family (plus sell some papers). Running a newspaper puts him in the flow of information (like being the Chief of Police, who I think his family also owns). Being the editor/owner of Diario gives him power over a lot of public information in the island. I'll bet he also has editorial power/ownership at the best known Aruban TV station.
