Joran told his mothere, and I think she reported it in an interview, that he would not have been out and in this trouble had she not been away.

A totally jerky excuse if you ask me. And his way of manipulating his Mother.

It was something like "if you had been here I would not have gone out" My paraphrased version, but that was the extent of it.

I can't link this, but J's mother returned from the Netherlands and went to see him right after he was arrested. He told her that if she'd been home (where she should have been), he wouldn't have gone out that night. So she must be the disciplinarian in the family. Papa VDS made no bones about not being able to control J.
