Chris Muir's cartoon (http://daybydaycartoon.com) gives me my "first cup of rational coffee" every morning...
Tight, concise satire... with all the tact of a train wreck. Here's a sampling...
As with today's cartoon (immediately above), to truly enjoy the topical nature of his work you need to be up on current events.

Hmmmm, well, it was Pennsylvania's Lt. Gov., not Indiana's.

["Most people cannot seem to get past the fact that he hates white people. That is a shame, because it can really be a bitingly funny cartoon."]
Ummmm, yea, I guess I could have a problem laughing at a cartoon created by a guy who hates me because of my skin color.

No mention of Johnny Hart and BC?
Calvin & Hobbes, Peanuts, Dilbert, Blondie, etc were always politically neutral. C&H is, IMHO, the best strip ever.
Bloom County was politically active, but took shots both ways, often at the same time. Bloom County to some heavy shots at Dan Rather long long before Rathergate, but OTOH one of the main characters (Steve) was portrayed as being insensitive on a regular basis. Nevertheless, a really great strip.
Doonesbury was always leftist, but became insulting instead of funny back in the early eighties. This "Pulitzer Prize" cartoon is now hidden deep in the want ads of my paper. I don't bother to look for it either.

Maybe Capp should get together with the South Park creators.
That way we could see the Film Actor's Guild play with SWINE...

Bump for a very good find. Like the poster a few entries upthread, I was curious why B.C. wasn't mentioned.

This is a serious essay on a deadly serious issue - comic strip parity ;'}
I appreciate how indignant the left apparently gets over the mild Mallard Fillmore, while there is virtually no outcry against the disgusting Doonesbury.
As with most things, conservative humor has the freshest ideas, the best use of the medium, and runs circles around anything the left craps out....

You'll note that Muir has corrected his cartoon... and slammed himself for incorrect facts.
To: King Prout
Yep. A good read. I didn't know about Prickly City, either.
Thanks for the ping.

I never said I liked him. There is some really good commentary in his work. I loathe him for being a hypocrite. He is a bigot and he is a big crybaby about racism.

I haven't seen Mallard in the Philadelphia area in years. Count your lucky stars. That strip has only one flaw. It's not funny. Or witty or topical or original or literate.
Ok, five flaws.

Yeah, but it has to be better than Doonesbury or Boondoggle.

I've read Boondocks quite a while, but it's getting old.
I agree he slams on black culture, and I don't think he does hate white people. I just get tired of the same rips day in, day out. That's why Doonesbury, Andy Capp, and a few other comics just aren't worth reading any more.

No clue as to ideology as far as Watterson or Calvin goesWho cares? There are some things that it doesn't matter what ideology the author is. Calvin and Hobbes is hilarious. And for those able to look past partisanship, Non-Sequitur makes you think
