Exactly, all he is doing is wasting his resources. The US is NOT leaving Iraq or Afghanistan and no matter how much the left screams, it ain't gonna happen. He has to realize this and knows you can't terrorize people who've spent decades living under a ruthless, blood-thirsty dictator and his sons.

yes...but assume they hit the frogs and Russia...all that will do is draw more "powers" against them...nevermind Jordan and a few ME countries...
The response from Egypt will be telling and decisive in my opinion....if Mubarek comes down hard and completes the deal against them they are in trouble- should he approach it with half-measures they will just gain strength...
