(IsraelNN.com) Channel 10 TV on Friday night will air its video footage depicting Negev police commander Brigadier-General Miso Shacham. Speaking to the area border police commander, Shacham is recorded instructing his forces to beat anyone who breaks away from the Kfar Maimon group, seeking to enter Gush Katif.
He called for the indiscriminate use of the water cannon, giving him authority to do so without hesitation or approval, as well as telling him to use batons and hit them hard, blows to the lower extremities to teach them a lesson.
The documented footage includes a fair share of vulgarities and explicit instructions to inflict pain on those persons apprehended trying to enter Gush Katif.
Learning of the footage and the Channel 10 program, Shacham explained his statements were made in a closed conversation with a senior officer following a number of days without sleep, expressing remorse for his harsh words.
Israel Police officials have requested the tape from Channel 10 to review the conversation as well as the context in which the remarks were made.

tHIS IS SICKENING , BUT NOT TOTALLY SUPRISING.
The disengagement has brought out of the closet the fascistic "I'm not Jewish I'm Israeli" Labor Party types.
If one reads the Isreali papers, the is a feeling among "I'm not Jewish I'm Israeli" Labor Party types, that the disengagement is the WATERLOO OF THE NATIONAL RELIGIOUS. Articles in Haaretz by Uri Avinery could have been writen inDER STURMER. They hope to resurect that great non-Jewish ISRAELI culture where their greatest celebrity is a transsexual singer.
However the major flaws with the logic of "I'm not Jewish I'm Israeli" Labor Party types is that without the proudly Jewish minority, the citizen arabs of ummel fahm etc pop out more babies and will take over. Moreover secular( or non orthodox American Jews will not save them from the final Arab onslaught.
Non orthodox Americans are more likely to have a child die of AIDS than make aliyah, and are intermarrying them selves out of existence anyway.

they did?
I suppose they did, if there only goal was to bring the issue to the fore.
I want all border crossings into the US to be lawful and otherwise on the up&up....and I don't give a rip what any PC feelgooder/bedwetter says in opposition.

The Minutemen accomplished showing my countrymen that the Border Patrol are useless, the politicians are gutless and we who aren't ready to defend ourselves are going to be trampled into the dust and our civilization brought down.

THAT ATE UP COMMANDER SHOULD BE FIRED!!!Oh, I don't know...after all, now everyone knows who "gave the order." What do you think his life will be worth six months from now?
Even Rabin suffered for his actions. You think this guy will be any more secure?

What this guy is ordering is legitimate grounds for good men to advocate his assassination.

Well, I hear what you're saying, but my concern is that if something FIRM (like being fined and fired) isn't done with him, then guess what message that is going to send down the ranks? Why would the average policeman give a care about beating the brains out of one of these folks, if the leadership isn't held accountable?

Of course, you are correct. Punitive action should be taken against this guy, if for no other reason than to punish his lack of discipline.
I do think it ironic that he no longer has plausible deniability for the "accidental" deaths that invariably occur under such ROE.
This guy is SO screwed.

Unbelievable. And the subordinate is wearing a kippa.
This is what the US wants. US policy seems now to be that if Israel can be made an undemocratic entity such as Egypt and the rest, then all the populations can be controlled.

Perhaps this nascent "Bible Block Party" or whatever they call themselves in Hebrew, has the potential to change the dynamic somewhat.
Israel may not be able to ignore the Bush administration, but the Bush administration can not ignore it's own base.
A unity party like that might be able to draw strength from the influence of the Republican base.

Bush administration can not ignore it's own base. Is Bush's base manifested on Freerepublic?
See the threads related to Israel, the Administration's lies about peaceful Abbas, the on going terrorism during a "cease fire", the creation of a terrorist base in Gaza, et al, and tell me how much interest- or lack thereof- is on those threads.

Yours is precisely the kind of belligerence that alienates Israel's potential allies. You may prefer to piss about slights, but I suggest cultivating friendships would be more advantageous.
Do you think the Bush administration wouldn't prefer to nominate a Supreme Court Justice that would draw no Democrat fire?
