I have not yet met anyone that went from a conservative to a liberal (or dark side). It is common the other way around.

You think? Any empirical data?

If you run across anything I would like to see it, but I personally don't know anyone that went to the dark side except for power or financial gains (where greed over rules morality.)

Look, if you don't agree with the management just wish your friends goodbye and leave. No need to make a production out of it. Especially over Justin Raimondo the twit that thinks that the US losing to Japan in WWII would not have been a bad thing.

In fact if that is the kind of person you admire you have to ask yourself what the devil you were doing here in the first place. Some of us may wear tinfoil but we are not totally insane.

"I have not yet met anyone that went from a conservative to a liberal (or dark side). It is common the other way around."

Actually, it is not all that rare. We see it fairly often. There two categories:

1. We can remember our Mothers fuming over two decades ago when friends/relatives retired and became blazing liberals in a year two after retirement. Now that my wife and I are Mid 60, we have seen the same thing happen to friends and others that we know. Probably most of them went over for the greed. Some were fake conservatives working for corporations or owning their own business, and if they had outed themselves as liberals before retirement, it would have been costly. Last but not least, if a child or grandchild came out of the closet as a homosexual, that was the reason to become a liberal.

2. The far fringes of those who call themselves conservatives have gone so far right, they have merged with the far left of the of the dark side. Amazingly, they still call themselves conservatives, while hating America, GW/his cabinet and those of us who support our side. We see them posting on Free Republic all the time and often write an opus as they join Justin and others of his ilk.

His posting history all the way back to 2001 was contained on one page! There was a little more on page 2, but he definitely was not a major contributor.

I have not personally seen this myself (I am in my 40’s) You sound like your from the most destructive generation in history the 1960’s generation. From your description it does sound like they where not really conservatives to begin with, then greed made them show their true colors.

Justin of anti-war.com and those ‘conservatives’ are blinded or something. They obviously limit their reading of the news during this war. I used to read their articles during Kosovo. I went their a few times trying to understand their position in Iraq, each time they seem to flat out ignore key points just as lib’s do. Peace at the cost of our own lives isn't logical thus I have given up trying to understand them. Justin I believe was consumed by his own website name. His readers I don't understand yet they have turned to the dark side.

Now there is a group on Freerepublic that is rightly so upset with Bush dealing with illegals comming accross our borders and tax payers giving them sacks of money when they get here.

I have personal experience with this. My little brother was a complete conservative as a teen, but has been going to college
FOREVER, (He's 35 this year) and is now a communist. Really.

I find it hard to talk to him anymore. *Sigh.*

Actually my wife and I are a little too old to be boomers.

Some of the people we have seen cross over to the dark side are in their 70's now.

My Mother died in her late 80's two years ago. We discussed this crossover that she had seen in her own family, one sister and many former friends many times. My MIL often saw it with the snowbirds in her group. After a couple of winters snowbirding, they became liberal. She just broke off any relationships with them. The Clintoon years brough a lot of them out of their closets.
