HAVANA, July 23 (UPI) -- A new crackdown on political opposition is under way in Cuba, with at least 20 dissidents arrested, the BBC reported Saturday.
Those detained were said to include the three main organizers of a public meeting of dissidents that took place in May.
The Cuban government, which did not confirm the arrests, has long insisted dissidents are not representative of public opinion, but, rather, are mercenaries in the pay of the United States.
Cuban opposition sources told the BBC state security agents visited scores of houses across Havana Friday. Most of those arrested were reportedly planning to take part in a protest outside the French embassy.
This was done in honor of Teddy Kennedy's recent visit to the island, correct?
These guys don't sound too bad.
They should send some of these "evildoers" to the "evil" USA. And we could send them some of our commie-loving hippies.
bump
Things are getting dicey than usual with the power outages.
Yep, and in the mean time the only thing the MSM will report is the treatment of the prisoners at GITMO.
