What made Tancredo's remarks so unacceptable is that he gave no poignant reasons for why such a strategy would work. He just came across as a crazy man, and that is where he remains. Any one with any sense would know to give thought-out logic before blowing out such an inflammatory gambit.

The point isn't what Tancredo said. Everyone knows it is better off left "out there". The less said about it the better. If Dimwit, or whoever really cared about treating all religions with respect, he would just hope Tancredo's comments faded away from the light of public controversy, hoping less muslims would be offended. He might be partly correct, but he should also make reference to the Constitution. Mecca lies outside the territorial boundaries of the US and therefore outside the Constitution's legal domain, but there are citizens of the US who might question whether the spirit of the First Amendment might not be important in this question.
