The article leaves out what Tancredo really said - that this would be his response in case of a NUCLEAR attack on several US cities. Why didn't the reporter ask Congressman Dingell what his response would be?

But threatening to nuke Mecca is supposed to accomplish....what, exactly? I suspect there would be a fair number of radical moslem groups who wouldn't be too upset at that because, rightly or wrongly, they think it might help their cause. So it doesn't even have a predictable deterrent effect.
But isn't it possible that the threat of a strike against Mecca might be a deterrent?
(And keep in mind that Tancredo was asked about a response to a nuclear attack on American cities.)

Dingell is literally THEIR Representative......there are more arab/paki muslims in his district than any other congressional district in the US!
What made Tancredo's remarks so unacceptable is that he gave no poignant reasons for why such a strategy would work. He just came across as a crazy man, and that is where he remains. Any one with any sense would know to give thought-out logic before blowing out such an inflammatory gambit.
Islam gives non-Muslims 3 and only 3 choices:
1. Conversion to the death cult
2. Paying ransom/tribute to remain non-Muslim
3. Beaheading.
