PADUCAH, Ky. -- The youngest Kentucky child to be charged with murder in decades likely will receive counseling and therapy in a setting away from a state juvenile jail, experts say. The 7-year-old boy is charged with killing his mother's boyfriend on June 27.
Under state law, he is too young to be tried as an adult or sentenced to a juvenile facility, but could be placed in specialized foster care or a private psychiatric hospital.
The boy's case will hinge on whether he had the mental capacity to know the difference between right and wrong and whether he is competent to make decisions about his case, experts say.

They're charging the mother with leaving the 4-year-old in the care of the seven year old given that the seven year old had assaulted the younger boy with a hot iron two years ago.
Authorities probably ought to run the checklist for psychopathy on the older boy and if he fits the pattern, put him in a cage until either they find a cure for psychopaths or he dies of old age.
They seem too young to have been influenced by violent gameboy gadgets/games. Horror movies found in house and/or molestation?
...or his little brother.
Not married but same last name??
That could be true - it's usually the older ones they go for and leave the little ones for later - and when they get to the little ones .. the older ones retalliate.
That's what I am thinking.
I agree. I am divorced from my first husband. I had two children with him. He has had no contact at all with them in over 5 years. My second husband bless him has been a wonderful Dad to them and we have had four more children together.
As to the 7 year old..... My 7 yo little boy is currently in a psychiatric hospital. He has been diagnosed as bipolar among other things. He was admitted because he tried to smother his baby sister and then threatened to kill himself. I don't know what this particular kid's parents are like but it IS possible that there is a problem with the child and not the parenting. That being said I think this boy was probably being abused or was witnessing abuse towards his mother and or baby brother and was trying to protect them.
