Also, the Russians have an alliance with China, so any war with China may involve Russia as well.

All the comments are belong to nationalistic fervor. As far as I know, China is very backward. The aegis-type warships they get are not as advanced as we expected. China does not have any missiles which can reach U.S.A. But their missiles can easily reach Japan.

I think that's the key issue. After what Japan did to China during WW2, China would be wanting pay back. Especially, Nanking and the Germ Testing Units.

So China, all of a sudden, buys massive amounts of American goods, and we suffer? Although prices would rise, business booms!

Simple, end Most Favored Nation status for Chinese exports to the USA. Slap a huge tarrif on Chinese goods and instantly the trade deficit with China is closed.

Except, China would probably experience an instant recession or worse. They would also slap duties on US products. In other words, there would be a trade war. If economic pressures were great enough on the Chinese, they might try and divert attention with a war, like moving agaist Taiwan.

Better come up with a Plan B.
