Defeat CAFTA and save your supplements. You must ACT NOW!
ACT NOW to preserve your access to nutrients, effective vitamins and minerals, and nutritional medicine! We have leverage - it's very close, perhaps within 1 vote!
Listen to Len & Joe (Ask the Pharmacist Group) discuss why this is an important issue for all of us!
CAFTA - BAD for jobs, small businesses, health stores, health freedom
In the fine print the US is being signed up to global regulations that override US supplement laws.
The outcome for CAFTA is up for grabs, as the vote is very close in the House of Representatives.
This is a unique opportunity to get our issue before Members of Congress who have not heard of Codex. The more people who call, the better.
A much larger number of calls are needed to delay CAFTA.

Recommened Action:
Call your Representatives' office
Call 1-202-224-3121 weekdays or call your representatives' local district office. If possible, take the time to visit their local district office in person.
or
Email your Representative. We've provided a link to a letter that you can edit to make it easy for you.
It's close! You can influence the decision.
Please ask your Representative to make arrangements with staff to remain vigilant. The treaty could be introduced to the House in the middle of the night or in the early morning.
It will take a lot of pressure, and many more calls and letters to raise this issue of the international threat to supplements. Many in Congress have not yet heard of Codex.
If opposition succeeds in delaying CAFTA, it could still come back for a vote later.
Calls need to number in the millions if we are to make this a 'third rail' issue. It is going to take sustained involvement by the public over a long time, to achieve adequate status for natural medicine.
You forgot to add that it will starve children and old people.
With all due respect, to all who are swallowing this propaganda I'd assume you would actually READ the treaty than rely on a special interest group press release.
CAFTA Facts; CAFTA and Dietary Supplements
So no offense but maybe you should read this.www.ustr.gov (WARNING it's in PDF)
CAFTA is being deionized by 'almost' every special interest group in the US as the next thing worse than a deal with the Devil himself. And about a week ago someone on a thread said CAFTA would effect our 2nd Amendment rights - which is utter nonsense.
I don't know what it is but CAFTA is turning normally sane people into moonbats.
The CAFTA-DR will not limit consumer access to dietary supplements in any way, nor will it change the way the federal government or U.S. states regulate dietary supplements.
Contrary to assertions some have made, the CAFTA-DR will not require the United States to:
apply the recently adopted Codex Alimentarius Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Supplements. In fact, the agreement imposes no obligations regarding Codex standards or guidelines. The Codex Guidelines provide voluntary guidance to governments relating to the composition of vitamin and mineral supplements and criteria for establishing maximum amounts of vitamins and minerals per daily portion of supplement consumed.
change the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA), which regulates dietary supplements in the United States.
Allow me to add the names NOW Foods, Pure Encapsulations, Enzymatic Therapy and Vitamin Research Products (VRP).
Maybe you should read before posting, too. I was responding to post #2, which said, "Who cares about vitamins."
Beat me by two minutes.
You can't post facts here!! You have to follow the moonbat line.. If you don't you will be called a Bush Bot....
That's smart. Close the front door and leave the back door open so the sovereignty of our nation can be surrendered by new world order "W".
Understand this one thing. "W" is not a conservative. Therefore, he will push us toward accepting laws and treaties that normalize our laws with the rest of the world even if they violate our Constitution. He's the genius who wants to pay social security benefits to illegal immigrants who have worked in the United States for five years, even if they have returned to their home of origin.
It takes an American citizen or legal immigrant ten years of work to qualify for Social Security.
"W" is our liberal, new world order president in Conservative clothing.
CAFTA is a killer.
St. John's wort is an herbal remedy for depression. But we can't have a natural remedy being used when there are much more expensive and dangerous big pharma alternatives now can we?
If it works for many people, what gives you or CAFTA the right to decide otherwise?
Your argument is the same as those who wish cancer sufferers to be denied marijuana to control nausea and pain, simply because it is a natural growing medicine, and cannot be controlled by the pharmacuetical industry.
Maybe you were thinking of Ginkgo Biloba, which is an herbal memory enhancer.
Perhaps you should try some and see if it works for your not-so-good memory.
Must be a bit unconfortable wearing Kevlar every day in anticipation of that inevitable nearby bomb-blast.
Do you live in Gaza, or the U.S?
Yes, those too are good brands. I hate to see the good companies painted with the same brush as the huckster companies.
Posting facts to the wrong people, you mean. I commented that I =do= in fact care about vitamins, so I get the "you stupid moonbat" treatment. I did not address the CAFTA issue yet, mainly because I'm still studying it.
I am also in support of a free market economy - let the buyer beware. I take time to research and understand the vitamins and supplements I take, I don't feel sorry for those who get scammed. If you don't know how to use gasoline correctly, you just may get burned. Should we outlaw gasoline? How about those who buy the higher grades of gas thinking it's better for their car, they pay more but in the vast majority of the cases it doesn't actually benefit them. Buyer beware.
If you think the government should be in the position of telling us what vitamin is good for us and what isn't, then you are saying that you believe the government will be acting in your best interest when it has proven time and time again that it doesn't work that way. If you have a powerful lobby, your drug/scam/"high priced item" can be government approved no problem.
Research has clearly shown that many heath conditions can be improved or even cured by taking food supplements. It's not all that surprising to me that the body can heal itself if given what it needs since many of those conditions are caused by poor nutrition over a period of time. A quick fix pill is a "liberal" solution that covers symptoms but seldom cures the problem. The cure often requires self discipline, a longer term approach, and personal ownership of your own health - that sounds like conservatism to me.
And you call yourself Mind-numbed, why am I not surprised?
Anyone that buys worthless items (supplements)have no one to blame but theirselves.
I use some and I do not want anyone messing with any of them in any way. A responsible person can research items and get a good idea what it will do and won't do.
About a year ago I reduced my chlosterol 102 points in 9 weeks using nothing but natural supplements. My doctor gave me a months supply of Lipitor and when I returned it to him I believe he was pissed off because I didn't take his BAD pills. I think a person must use their head, there are companies that sell junk and there are companies that sell reliable supplements.
Once upon a time, we only had to have seat belts. They said they would never force us to wear them. It was voluntary. Now we have seat belt enforcement zones.
Cute. I tend to remember things that work, not things that don't (/excuses)
Now as to SJW:

Herb ineffective as anti-depressant (4/9/02)
The popular herbal supplement, St John's wort, is an ineffective treatment for depression, a major study has found.
The use of herb has grown massively in recent years as more people opt for so-called natural medicines.
Researchers have conducted the largest ever clinical trial into the impact of the herb on major depression - a moderately severe form of the condition.
The researchers, from Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina, found it had no more impact than a dummy medicine.

That's enough for me.
How would I know? One cannot account for anothers thinking.
You will also be surprised that CAFTA, along with our other trade agreements, are our best antidote to China.

that's too logical for the luddites on this forum!
One thing about Wort though, I've never seen anyone claim it was for major depression.
