I relied my class at the Vatican for the date of the "official" acceptance of the issue into the cannon, which was hotly debated for 300 years before formal acceptance.
That said, the issue is trivia, in that Jesus was the Christ, and how He got here matters very little.
Incidentally, the reason the Church developed these doctrines has a lot more to do with fighting heresies (which were a serious threat in the early Church) than the things you have suggested.
For instance, the development of the idea of Theotokos had a lot to do with fighting against the Arian and Nestorian heresies.
