Police have today arrested three people after an attempted arson attack at the home of suicide bomber Jermaine Lindsay.
Thames Valley Police said officers were called to Northern Road in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, shortly after 6.30am after reports of a strong smell of petrol in the street.
Police said a substance thought to be petrol or diesel had been located and the area sealed off. Houses adjoining Lindsay’s former home were evacuated.
Lindsay, 19, blew himself up on a Piccadilly Line London Underground train on July 7, killing 26 people in the most deadly of the four terrorist attacks that claimed 56 lives that day.
Armed police were also called to East London Mosque in Whitechapel, East London, after leaders there recieved a telephoned bomb threat in a second suspected resprisal attack.
Neighbours were told to remain inside their homes as the premises were told to stay indoors.
Last week, officers of the Metropolitan police and Thames Valley Police began a search of the semi-detached house on Northern Road which Lindsay had shared with his wife, Samantha Lewthwaite.
Ms Lewthwaite, who is not currently staying at the house, last week condemned her husband’s attack as "horrific".
Thames Valley Police said that today’s incident in Northern Road was being treated as attempted arson.
Superintendent Carole Haveron said: "The substance was found around the family home of the fourth London bomber which is currently unoccupied.
"To conduct a premeditated attack like this is in itself a crime that puts the lives of innocent people in Northern Road at risk who themselves are united against the atrocities that took place in London."

The terrorist families better get a clue and reign in these evil doers. I agree with the police sentiment, however I am very please to see Britons will not put up with terrorist activity one iota!
Speaking as a Briton - I don't care about the Muslim community, its feelings or its fears. Why? For a very simple reason - THEY DON'T GIVE A RATS ARSE ABOUT THE REST OF US!
They better damn well start caring if they don't want to be ostracised and persecuted.

I just had to switch off Sky News because they were showing a focus group of Muslims and interviewing them. I am sick to effing death of their limp wristed, pansy arse navel gazing and saying how effing threatened they feel. How about this, gobshite, the rest of us feel effing threatened by bombs on the Tube and people actually being DEAD!
