Stamford-AP, July 22, 2005 12:32 PM) _ Stamford-based World Wrestling Entertainment is going to be limiting one of its made-up wrestling character's because of a clash with real world events.
The WWE has agreed to remove an Arab-American character, Muhammad Hassan, from its popular Smackdown show.
The issue was raised by the UPN network after the show featuring the character was aired two weeks ago on the day of the London bombings.
WWE says it agrees and has not had the character on SmackDown! since then.
However, Muhammad Hassan is still scheduled for this Sunday's Pay-Per-View, The Great American Bash.
I don't know but I'm sure it'll be a blast..
WTF? During the '80's we had Nikolai Volkov. I don't recall everyone being worried about offending the Russians. Same with the Iron Sheik.
No. He was an Arab American that complained about being profiled. They ran some skits that showed his manager as "martyred" and some hooded thugs that emulated the guys that hack peoples heads off(although all they did was choke a guy).
Why, is it because WWE is fake and Muhammad is actually performing in reality like peace loving Muslim do?

Nikolai Volkov and the Iron Sheik were my favorite bad guys! I even had the WWF ThumbWrestlers of them along with my other two favorites, Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper.

from Cleveland.
