These searches aren't mandatory. A person not wishing to be searched can decline to ride public transportation, which the city is under no obligation to provide in the first place.

These searches aren't mandatory. A person not wishing to be searched can decline to ride public transportation, which the city is under no obligation to provide in the first place. If they collect taxes to provide subway service then they are under obligation to provide subway service.
