I have to say abortion is one of those issues where if the wife is pro-life you can bet your bottom dollar the husband is too. I don't think the reverse is necessarily true - pro-life men sometimes marry pro-choice women.

It makes sense if you think about it. Say you're a woman thinking of marriage. Someday the doctor may tell you your unborn baby has irreversible handicaps and will never be able to live independently. You know what you would do. Do you want to be strapped with a man who will resent your choice of giving your child life?

I really cannot think of a single pro-life wife whose husband is pro-abort and my wife and I have been involved in one capacity or another with the pro-life movement since 1973.

what were the views of Ginsburg's husband??????

Just guessing, but I'm betting his thoughts were . . . "Thank God she'll be out of the house and I can get some peace and quiet!" :-)

"We're taking your home to build a drive-thru abortion clinic so that we can help society along. Oh and we're raising your taxes to pay for those murde...uh, abortions so the do-not-wanna-be-mothers don't have to face any financial hardship."

Hmmmm...this is one of many media (print/broadcast) 'reports' of this nature. Seems the radical hardcore left wing desperately desire to have the abortion issues as a driving force in the Robert's nomination/confirmation process.

The MSM is certainly stressing the wife's views the last two days. Someone made this conscious decision to hammer this home to the 'Dems' masses. Already heard of the wife's pro life affiliations, her work on those issues. Wonder if Schumer will question the nominee as to the 'weight' of the wife's views on the nominee's judicial rulings.

I respect that . . . but even good old-fashioned Catholic ladies smile every once in a while.

I'll give her a pass on a 'happy face' for now.
She certainly is aware of the muck and adversarial questioning that will be thrown at her husband. She is certainly aware of the anguish this nomination process will be brought upon her family, her views/beliefs by the radical hardcore left wing.

She sounds great....bush should have appointed her...If Roberts turns out to be Pro-abortion, that will be the nail in the coffin of the alliance between social conservatives and the GOP....After all, we were constantly told that to change the court, we had to change the court and hence the law.....It's put up or shut up time now...

Hmmm ... I think the script goes like this:

Roberts was all ready to look to past jurisprudence for guidance oon abortion law, but then one day he asked his wife. When she pleaded with him not to turn mothers into murderers and to not have the blood of countless baby girls on his hands, he decided, as many a male pol has decided before, that he would have to defer his judgement to his wife's, as the issue is far more pertinent to a woman than it ever could be to any man.

Some ladies are able to withstand that and offer up a smile. Of course, everytime I see Laura Bush smiling, I keep thinking that must be the proper Texas lady way of saying "f**k you". LOL

What's wrong with being pro-life?

(Notice how articles like this one assume it is a bad thing).

""Roe v. Wade is the settled law of the land. ... There's nothing in my personal views that would prevent me from fully and faithfully applying that precedent." Oops. Can someone tell me why people are calling a man who supports the status quo conservative?"

That was said when he was looking at a lower court seat. They are bound by SCOTUS decisions. SCOTUS is not. As Scalia has suggested too, Roe v. Wade will be dismantled incrementally...

While Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts Jr.'s views on abortion triggered intense debate on Capitol Hill this week, there was no mistaking where his wife stands: Jane Sullivan Roberts, a lawyer, is ardently against abortion

Great, and when President Bush nominates her for a Judgeship we can discuss it.

"This makes me SO happy! And I thought she looked kind of mousy."

Me too. Since she cannot control her son, I thought she might be a typical soft indulgent liberal. If she is Catholic and anti-abortion, she is bound to be a good influence on her husband.

I thought that was his answer to any question, not just a blanket statement to make when the wind blows....

She is no looker, but she must have one heck of a head on her shoulders to snag a catch like Roberts.

This is funny.

He is the candidate.
She is the wife and she is anti-abortion

Now this is where it gets funny. The feminists and all those people who think women were oppressed and they fought so women could be somebody and make their own decisons, etc. Now they have it and they will BASH this woman for having her own opinions, thoughts and ideas. Is it a riot or what? It's like a dog chasing a car and when he finally catches up to it it's like what will he do with it?

The dem/lib/fems have no legs to stand on. It's always their way or the highway. Well a word to all of those losers...Mrs. Roberts is her own woman. That's what you srived for in all your protests and burning bras and all of that. Now you have strong women and you don't like their stance UNLESS it is YOUR WAY. Tough...it aint gonna happen.

Imagine the nerve and brashness of this woman daring to be against murdering babies. How dare she? What a joke those other people are. Jokes, clowns etc.

Go Mrs. Roberts. I am with you. I am not, never have been and never will be in favor of murdering a baby. Not now not ever.

"Can someone tell me why people are calling a man who supports the status quo conservative?"

Seems to me that a fellow who generally supports the status quo is the very definition of a conservative.

Ditto here. Of course, one can support abortion on demand and still be against Roe V. Wade.
