"I really suspect the 50% divorce number, unless there are huge patches of America with 99% divorce rates somewhere."
I remember at my first job, a friend asked the boss if he could have a certain day off to attend his brother's wedding. All the boss said was "They'll probably get divorced."
Actually, that's another myth. It was on "Mythbusters."
married men live longer than single men (I know... the joke goes: it just SEEMS longer).
Lifelong marriage is the ideal. I'm glad that my Church still teaches the Christian ideal of lifelong marriage (despite some abuse in practice on the annulment front).
How many single men NEVER get married?
They factor in the same people who divorce over and over which makes the stats look higher than they really are. Good example is imagine you have three couples (100 percent) and two of the three have never been married to another person, nor do they divorce, but the 3rd couple divorce, remarry and divorce again. Statistically you now have 6 people and 4 divorces or (ugh, I'm bad with percents)or 75 percent divorce rate. Anyway, numbers just don't always tell the whole story.
"As long as we both shall not tire overly of not watching our favorite television program whilst the other is watching theirs..."
"As long as we both shall maintain a body fat ratio of less than..."
Etc.
Etc.
Etc. How sad is this.
THAT was it, that I learned in college! Thanks a bunch for reminding me how it went!
Nice to hear it. My wife and I will try to emulate you folks...good role models always welcome!
To some people, yes.
Such as nearly everyone in Hollywood except Ron Howard, from what I hear.
To me, no.
You know...I have always thought the same thing. I guess I just hang out in the wrong crowd...
Well, maybe also Tom Hanks and...
...or maybe you can't say that any marriage in Hollywood will last, because you can't tell what the future will hold.
I wonder if "Bennifer II" will last?
I KNEW it!!!!!!
In two weeks, it will be 47 years and counting!
thank you
thank you
I don't blame men for not wanting to get married. I never meet a divorced man who doesn't have some horror story to tell about what the courts have done to him. It's terribly sad. No educated man I know or have heard of would dream of getting married.
it will be hard for a few years, at least, but, I can go to bed at night knowing my kids love and respect me
A cute house.
I want a vow that says "at least until we return from overseas."
