BTW-- Yahoo, AM. SIngles, and Tickle did NOTHING for me, either.I wasted money every month, and about all I got, (especially on yahoo) was messages from Russian girls, wanting a "ticket" into this country. I no longer waste money on ANY of them.

My gradeschool buddy I still hang with, he turned 40, he's a year ahead of me is courting a 24 year old girl online from Canada and she wants to come down to be with him. I've talked to her but I do have some concerns for him since she doesn't get along with her mom very well and I often wonder if she sees him as a way to "get away" from her troubles. She seems to be a nice person and I don't deny that but I often wonder if that problem plays into that. I know in the past, he has one battle scar that would make ours look like love taps, believe me. He does tend to be much more "fling caution to the wind" than us though, and he does get burned later on. I wish he'd learn from it though. He also chatted with girls from Russia. I'm leery about that side of the equation too, yeah, you might get a good one, but you can get burned bad by that too.

Hello again. I was out most of the day, moving the stuff out of my old, leaky garage. I am about 1/3 of the way done. 5 of my 9 roundie color sets are now there, I have 2 left in that location, and several other Rect. tube and early SS sets, including a ctc-40 RCA, a '70 model heathkit SS color set, a 1950 KCS-49 RCA roundie BW metal tube set, and several others . I have a couple of 60's Zenith SS console stereos to move, but one will most likely be moving to the trash, as water has gotten to it, and ruined the cabinet. I hope to be able to save the speakers(15" 3 way, with horns), and the tuner, (the amp is already out if it, here in my basement).I will be getting back to this, next Tuesday, and Friday, intend to be finished.

Anyway, as you have most likely figured out by now, with all of my previous post, and advice, I too, am "saving" myself. I must admit, that when I made that decision, at about 14, I NEVER imagined that I would be waiting this long, but it is too late to "give in" now, despite all of the put-downs, and pressure, EVEN FROM SO-CALLED "Christians", that say, and have done so, for 20 years now, that "this is unrealistic, nowdays. Well, I tell them"nowhere in the bible, does it say"in the future, in the last days, all of these teachings I have given you(on sexual purity, homosexuality, adultery, etc), will have to be "modified to fit the times". No, it says" my word is the same, Today, tomorrow, and FOREVER"!!! And yes, I too, received the occasional spanking, when young, and hand slap, for things I shouldn't have done, or were dangerous to do, from my parents, teachers, and so on, when I was young. Heck, I even had my hand slapped a few different times, by a female friend, when I was 19, after I had done things that annoyed her, too many times(The ONE exception to the general rule of "bad" friendships, with women I had. Why I let that one get away, is a question that I still cannot answer, to this day Shortsightednes, and a distraction from a couple of others, who did NOT care about me, caused her to "move on", and I lost what was most likely my best chance at my ideal mate).

Anyway, I am NOT going to waste my time, with Eharmony, or anything like it anymore. I still figure the Lord will send someone to me, one way or another, or I will meet someone somehow, or maybe even, if she is available, and still the moral, decent person I remember, send Kim back into my life, if not for a romance, at least, for a decent friendship, hopefully one that will last forever this time.

That's not saying much for it. Lamest...movie...ever."

WTF, spaceballs was hilarious!!! Oh well, I was pretty young when it came out...maybe its the nostalgia. I like Mel Brooks' humor though.

IMO it really has nothing to do with divorce industry profits.
It has more to do with the marxist media promoting the abolition of the family unit, which is to break it up. This can be done in many ways, the easiest way to understand is to do some research on antonio gramsci, an italian communist.

until then, this prophetic document might shed some light on things:

1963 congressional record, communist goals
http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

Mel Brooks is okay, but I wasn't born when that came out. Spaceballs in my opinion (yes, I know, nobody asked for it) is just two hours of cornball-ness. Oh, hey, his name is Yogurt, and that sounds kind of like Yoda. Ha ha.

Nice to meet you, Nowhere Man.

Well, I'm glad to know I'm not the only desperate but picky bachelor around here. And we've all seen our share of heartache, too, it seems.

Why, just earlier today, I noticed jbeachgrl was posting on a certain thread, so I thought I'd say hi. "Remember me? You said hi to me earlier," I said. She snapped at me!!! She said, "Grow up. I said hi to you? So what? Get over it!" I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! What did I do to incur such wrath? Those pictures of her smiling sweetly on her personal page are clearly deceitful.

So, Rca2000, maybe it's okay after all that she lives in Hawaii.

Oh, and by the way, Nowhere, Jessica Simpson is clearly O.J.'s sister. Clearly.

It came out in 1987 so I was 20/21 then. I like Mel Brooks, I also love his "History of the World, Part I." I'm still waiting for "Part II" myself. BTW, in "Spaceballs," the guns used by the troops is an actual, the "Calico" that came out at that time, they had a .22LR and 9mm Parabellum (NATO) version, I think you can hold 100 rounds in the .22LR version and 50 in the 9mm.

May the Schwartz be with you! B-D

I'm more of a "Pizza the Hut" guy myself. B-) Hey, "different jokes for different folks," as we said back in the 1980's, it's OK with me. Tell you the truth, I never got into Seinfeld and to hear everyone talk about it at the time it was on, drove me nuts.

Ever see the 1980 version of "Flash Gordon?" I loved the soundtrack "Queen" did. I also saw the old 1936 serial and it was really funny, I remember one scene where one of the minor villains called in a monster to take on Flash Gordon and it was a bear painted in zebra stripes, it was so funny. I get into some of those old serials when I come across them, if you take a close look at some of them, they use the same footage, for example, they used the same film clips of a rocket flying in "Commando Cody" (1952) that was used before in 1945's "The Purple Monster from Mars." "The Purple Monster" was about a Martian who killed people and then he would project his soul into their bodies to do his deeds, it was kind of eerie.

Same here. I know for sure, we are not alone in our quests which is kind of comforting.

Why, just earlier today, I noticed jbeachgrl was posting on a certain thread, so I thought I'd say hi. "Remember me? You said hi to me earlier," I said. She snapped at me!!! She said, "Grow up. I admit, to be fair, I wasn't there so I cannot comment (pinged her, it is courtesy to do that when someone else comes up in conversation) on it, but yeah, I've had it happen to me as well. Maybe your username didn't click with her, I've had that happen too. Every once in a while, my posts can be misunderstood so I had to clarify things too.

So, Rca2000, maybe it's okay after all that she lives in Hawaii.

Well, Hawaii might as well be Mars to me, if I can't drive to it, forget it and I doubt my Ford Explorer or 1977 Mercury can get there. B-) I always thought a cool engineering feat is to build a huge Interstate highway bridge to Hawaii but I think it would take a lot to do it. Come to think of it, why do they have Interstate highways in Hawaii? BTW, it's early, had 3 hours of sleep, so forgive my ramblings. B-)

Oh, and by the way, Nowhere, Jessica Simpson is clearly O.J.'s sister. Clearly.

She does look it. BTW, I'm not sure I want to see that new "Dukes of Hazzard" movie. It does seem there isn't a an original idea in Hollywood anymore. Not sure if I want to see the new "Willie Wonka" either, Johnny Depp the way he plays Wonka has a certain "Alex DeLarge" (from "A Clockwork Orange) quality to it, I think I put my finger on what disturbs me about it. Then again, you're talking to a guy who thinks Adam West (the 1966/68 TV version where the words pop up on the screen during the fights) made the best Batman although our of the movies, Michael Keaton (from Pittsburgh) is my pick.

I am distressed that marriage-related posts draw such vehement, anti-marriage responses from so many fellow FReepers.

I'm not talking about the divorced folks who are simply honest and show a glimpse of their deep wounds. Some of them are like clean-washed people who still have a seed of hope in them. But I'm talking about the women so acid-bitter about men, and the men so wormwood-bitter about women, full to the gagging point with cynicism and callousness about loyalty and love.

I mouse around in Lucianne.com from time to time, and same thing there: biting blasts of anti-matrimonial commentary. And these are the self-described "conservatives." One can only think it's worse amongst the rest of our fellow citizens.

Seems like there are millions of people out there, stunned and bleeding and wrecked for decades. Divorce must be a kind of abortion for adults: a way to reject and be rejected, a way to crush and be crushed.

Why? Can someone tell me why? And can someone give me hope that a Culture of Marriage can be renewed in this beloved nation of ours?

I realize more and more how incredibly fortunate I am, that I have a solid, sane, kind, good man for a husband; and that we have the help of God and the grace that comes from the Sacrament. We have sweetness and peace. Two stable, secure teenage sons, fine boys who are a pleasure to be with. Contentment. Laughter. We sing together. Not like this is Eden, no, not all preternaturally perfect: but this IS the gift of grace that wedded life is supposed to be.

Let's pray for each others' marriages. Let's help our young people start RIGHT NOW to become the kind of people --- considerate, promise-keeping, truth-telling, chaste, courageous --- who will be really capable of marriage.

I don't know if it's good news or bad news, but I'm pretty sure you're wrong there. For reasons I cannot fathom, the whole anti-marriage, and basically anti-woman thing seems to reside mostly in the conservative camp. Liberals, and the apolitical don't tend to see dating and marriage as adverserial relationships as do many conservatives. Conservatives have always been "angrier" for lack of a better word, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I think I'll be skipping on "Dukes." It looks mind-bogglingly stupid, but then again, maybe that's appropriate. I've seen "Willy Wonka," and I loved it. Yes, it is really freaky, but on Tim Burton's part, it's not nearly as freaky and out there as "Batman Returns." I liked Johnny Depp in it.

The best Batman by far is Christian Bale. I'm sorry if anyone disagrees...they are entitled to their stupendously wrong opinions. Just last night, in between posting, I got a chance to pop in my DVD of Batman (89). I like Michael Keaton, but in all honesty, his Batman/Bruce Wayne is kind of stiff, murky, and impenetrable. You almost have to remind yourself to route for him. That's not really Keaton's fault: it's just that his character(s) comes second to the Joker, who is really the main character and has twice as many scenes.

We should discuss it in more detail in my next post I'm planning, which will be titled "Who Should be the Next Joker?" Keep your eyes opened for it.

Sorry if I'm talking too much here. I got 9 hours of sleep, so I have no excuse.

"Pizza the Hut" kind of sounds like "Jabba the hut," and it puts a double-pun on a popular restaurant chain. Again, ha ha. Just kind of corny puns. But, to each his own. I'm sometimes accused of being a movie snob, anyway, so pay no mind to me.

I missed that 1980 Flash Gordon. Maybe I'll start looking for it. I never really saw the old 1930s or 1950s stuff. It's hard to believe it was the inspiration for "Star Wars," though.

You wrote: "For reasons I cannot fathom, the whole anti-marriage, and basically anti-woman thing seems to reside mostly in the conservative camp."

I don't know. At age 53 I feel I understand less than ever. Maybe somebody else will chime in and give us some insight.

I have an old but now distant friend, a fer-sure San Francisco Leftaroo (but a good man--- you'll have to accept that on faith) -- who got divorced from his second wife 2 years ago. Hasn't ever talked to me about it (we have an erratic e-mail friendship.) I know very well that his first divorce left him walking around like a zombie for months, and very chary of women for years after. Maybe I'll get bold and just ask him: what's going on?

Like I say, I'm furtunate: I have a good, solid marriage; and my parents, my husband's parents, and all of our sisters and brothers all have good, solid marriages. We're content; we're grateful; I think we're what used to be called "normal."

To me, hearing about a failing marriage and divorce is exactly like hearing about a death. Seeing acquaintances' marriages break up is like seeing an apple orchard full of diseased, hacked-up, and dead trees. Just inexpressibly sad. And deeply disturbing.
