Why don't they just build it at the prison there, and cut out the middleman?

Isn't that just wonderful!(sarcasm) Maybe they want a center oriented to recruiting in Folsom Prison.

Just as an FYI -

Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal.

Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship.

Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam.

Egypt - Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship.

Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.

Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.

Sudan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death.

Pakistan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims. Christians regularly put in prison for charges of blasphemy.

Officials lay bricks in symbolic start for Muslim center

Dallas Morning News

June 14, 2005

PLANO TEXAS – The Ismaili Muslim community announced Tuesday that it is building a $6.5 million worship and community center in Plano, where it has found a warm welcome.

Gov. Rick Perry flew in to lay the first ceremonial brick for the center's foundation.

Drove by the local 'Islamic Center' recently out of curiousity. Was surprised to see an 8ft tall barbed-wire fence around it. Now that tells me that they don't trust (i.e. don't consider themselves a part of) the community. Never seen that around any Christian church, even in the diseased heart of DC.

Is this going to be a Saudi-backed Wahabi teaching Mosque? If so, a close eye is required.

Why not simply convert Folsom Prison into a mosque. It seems already to be populated with the PIGS and thugs who follow Mohammed and his organized criminal activities masquerading as a religion. We ought to simply declare it to be not a religion any more than the Mafia is a religion and let the Mohammedan PIGS set up permanent residence there.

"Plans for a mosque at Levy Road and Sibley Street in Folsom have touched off questions and debate among city residents on a variety of topics, from the project's funding to the audibility of the five-times-daily call to prayer."

Meanwhile, London just got bombed again by terrorists, possibly by folks from their "peaceful Muslim community". How much longer before America has to start fighting against home grown terrorists?

I dunno. Sounds like a pretty good idea to me, that they build it.

I mean the Navy used to draw some major league flak and all shorts of b&*&^ing and moaning about killing all of those starving goats out on San Clemente Island during NGFS (Naval Gunfire Support Training), and now that Rosey Roads firing range - AKA Vieques - is no more, sounds like that new facility might make a damn good range for testing and practice firing Harpoon cruise missles.

Just my 2 cents

How many of the mosques built or being built here in the US are with Saudi money and a Wahhhabi imam? We should suspend any further construction of these Satan Centers.....

About two-thirds of the families have at least one member working at Intel's 6,500-employee Folsom campus, said the group's president, Riaz Siddique.

Gee, they better hope Intel doesn't have a lay off.

It should open just about the same time as the new light rail service to Folsom! Wonder which one will get blown up first?

All for freedom of religion...but 70 ft prayer tower seems unreasonably excessive...I'm far more worried about the new light rail extension becoming a criminal superhighway than a mosque being built...I'd rather have a mosque next door than a sex offender.
