Mosque to be built in FOLSOM, California

Plans for a mosque at Levy Road and Sibley Street in Folsom have touched off questions and debate among city residents on a variety of topics, from the project's funding to the audibility of the five-times-daily call to prayer.

The 31,000-square-foot mosque was approved May 18 by the Folsom Planning Commission. No residents spoke against the project at that meeting, and no appeals were filed during the 30-day period set aside for objections.

It should open just about the same time as the new light rail service to Folsom! Wonder which one will get blown up first?

Sudan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death.

As a Catholic, I especially love this one, as the Muslims (aka rebels) in the Sudan have been forcibly coverting the Sudanese Catholics - or killing them - for at least the last decade, under the watchful, unquestioning gaze of the UN and the world.

What a backstabbing SOB!

All for freedom of religion...but 70 ft prayer tower seems unreasonably excessive...I'm far more worried about the new light rail extension becoming a criminal superhighway than a mosque being built...I'd rather have a mosque next door than a sex offender.

The mosque - to be named Masjid Bilal, after a companion of the Prophet Muhammad -

Knowing the Arabic fondness of bi-sexual activities and the probability that no mosque is named after a woman, I would hazard a guess that Masjid Bilal was a tender young boy.

Why should you have to put up with either?

"Why don't they just build it at the prison there, and cut out the middleman?"

Wow what a stradegy, recruit ex-felons. The cult of death seeking bitter angry minds to warp even further against western civilization. Maybe they should build a swimming pool to.

Actually my thought is let them into the mosque, and then keep them locked in there.

"Gov. Rick Perry flew in to lay the first ceremonial brick for the center's foundation."

For every brick laid to a new Mosque(islamo-extremists) in America, one more brick is laid to the mausoleum of western civilization.

They will not take Christ out of America!

Not disagreeing with you but...If the government begins to persecuting/forbidding practicing of religion...The left will see to it that Christianity is gone well before Islam.

the audibility of the five-times-daily call to prayer.

Last time I heard that, I was in a war zone. I really don't want to think that that noise is a freedom I was fighting for. Is that politically incorrect to say? Oh well... too bad.

I'm not so sure where the devil they got the money to build this mosque in Folsom. Folsom has, in the last ten years, grown massively. Most homes are very expensive. Average rent on an apartment is around twelve to fifteen hundred a month. The land alone must be pretty expensive. Where I live, about 10 miles east of Folsom, the average acre is around 100,000. My sister works at Intel in Folsom and she says they employ alot, and I mean, alot of muslims. Up here in my neck of the woods I've noticed so many convenience stores being bought my arabs, who are unheard of in my county. I don't know what the people of Folsom were even thinking of when they approved it. I know they didn't get a general consensus. I shop in Folsom quite frequently, but I won't if I have to listen to the call to prayer.
