CA: Dems' ethics suit means 'now we go to war'

Sacramento -- The Democratic Party's decision to file a wide-ranging ethics complaint against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger this week probably signaled the end to any chance of a bipartisan compromise on the fate of the November ballot initiatives.

The fact that party Chair Art Torres signed the complaint filed with the Fair Political Practices Commission, not some state senator or Assembly member, shows where the decision was made, said Bruce Cain, a political science professor at UC Berkeley.

"That tells you that this is all part of an effort to make sure Arnold Schwarzenegger has a very long day on Nov. 8,'' he said. "(Democrats) believe they can prevail in November and put the governor in a deeper hole.''

--snip--

"Now we go to war, in all likelihood,'' said Kevin Spillane, a GOP consultant. "Filing that complaint conveyed the level of seriousness the Democrats have for a negotiated settlement.''

For months, Schwarzenegger and Democratic leaders have worked to find a middle ground on issues such as teacher tenure, redistricting reform and budget policy. ...

--snip--

But less than an hour before the FPPC complaint was filed Tuesday, Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, D-Los Angeles, was telling reporters that he was "very, very skeptical" any deal could be worked out with the governor.

--snip--

He said Democrats were reluctant to go along with much of the governor's budget reform plan, which is Schwarzenegger's No. 1 priority.

Núñez said the two sides were "seas apart" on Schwarzenegger's so-called "Live Within Our Means Act," ...

--snip--

"Schwarzenegger's not going to accept a bad deal,'' said Spillane. "The Democrats would have to give him half a loaf, and I don't know that they're willing to do that.''

Yes, the unions are just extortionist parasites that have no concern for the state, nothing but themselves. We can thank the liberal left for their pandering to the unions, which really all gets back to the real agenda of the left, POWER AND CONTROL.

Nothing else matters.

Yes.

The little screwups aside with wording and such, etc,, voters would probably pass all of them if the media, unions and dems weren't lying and misleading folks.

Not all voters are as dumb out here as some would like to have you think... altho there is a significant core of some nutjobs who still manage to find polling booths on election day. ;)
