I assume you're being facetious. If so, you're comparing two different situations. The troops weren't on the ground in Japan, they were in Vietnam.

You are correct...However, I was trying to point out that I assume our military people in any theater of war, would welcome retailation if the homeland was attacked during the war...Everyone I talked to that was in Viet Nam would have loved to have seen a nuke fall on Hanoi, regardless of whether Viet Nam attacked us or not...No one expressed concern that it would make the left alive Viet Cong angry...
