"...identified him as Vladimir Arutyunov, in his late 20s."

Russian ethnic. Probably a loon. Probably upset with Georgia's closer ties to US to the perceived detriment of Russia.

Russian ethnic.

How did you guess that?

Let us put it this way. First name: Vladimir. Does that make him Russian? Wrong. Mikhail Saakashvili, the Georgian president has the first Russian (well, Slavic) name which does not make him Russian.

Second name: Arutyunov. That must be the Armenian.

On a side note: Arutyunov is an Armenian name. For example: one famous Arutyunov was G.Arutyunov, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia. Another is:

ARMENIAN DETAINED IN RUSSIA: Russian Itar-Tass news agency reports that the Russian police detained a man who helped suicide bombers evade airport checks and explode airplanes that killed 90 people two weeks ago Russia.

The police officials identified the detainee as Armen Arutyunov, an Armenian, a resident of Krasnodar. The police said that Arutyunov illegally sold airline tickets on the black market. Investigators said they found out that Arutyunov met on August 24 two Chechen residents and sold them air tickets for the planes flying to Volkograd and Sochi. Arutyunov identified the Chechen women by id pictures and said that he had no idea about them planning terrorists attack.
