He's clearly counting on British Leftists to bail him out and blame the whole thing on Blair, on the war in Iraq, on unemployment, on discrimination against Muslims, blah blah blah. And that's probably exactly what they'd do. The public will see through it, but the unintelligentsia will swallow it hook, line, and sinker.
