Soros-Linked Smear Artist Mocks Jim Robinson

Dear Freepers:

Many of you faithfully and attentively followed WorldNetDaily’s ten-part series of excerpts from my book Hillary’s Secret War, which ran from July 6-20, 2005. For all your support and encouragement, I thank you.

It is my unhappy duty to inform you that leftwing journalist Terry Krepel also followed the series closely on his ConWebWatch blog, but with far less friendly intent. The final installment of my series, which told the story of FreeRepublic founder Jim Robinson, elicited this knavish comment from Mr. Krepel:

"In the latest (and possibly last) chapter of Richard Poe's WorldeNetDaily magnum opus on July 20, he goes beyond lionizing Joseph Farah: He lionizes Free Republic's Jim Robinson, who apparently was born a poor black child. When Poe drops the line, `Robinson grew up dirt poor in Fresno, Calif., in a family of nine children,’ you know you're in for it."

Now… who is Terry Krepel?

He is, first and foremost, a Web Editor for MediaMatters.org — a leftwing smear site with close links to the Soros network. The site was launched on May 3, 2004 by former American Spectator reporter David Brock — now court troubadour for the Hillary-Soros government-in-exile (see "Horowitz Exposes Brock as Paid Hatchet Man for Soros," MoonbatCentral.com, 03.04.05).

Media Matters and I have a certain, well, history. Let me explain.

One of Mr. Brock's very first projects upon launching his Web site was to send a formal letter of protest to Fox News, taking Bill O’Reilly to task for — believe it or not — allowing little ‘ol me to appear on The O’Reilly Factor to discuss George Soros’s malevolent agenda. Brock demanded that he be allowed equal time on The O’Reilly Factor to personally rebut my remarks about Mr. Soros.

Brock hired Terry Krepel some time later.

It was a predictable move. Krepel had already made a name for himself as a leftwing hatchet man, posting hit pieces against conservative journalists on the attack site MediaWhoresOnline.com and on his own Web site ConWebWatch.

Meanwhile, Krepel kept body and soul together by working a day job at the Russellville Courier in Arkansas. His MediaMatters.org bio says that Krepel "worked for newspapers for more than 17 years as a reporter, designer, and editor," but it does not say where. Given the vagueness of the available data, we can perhaps be forgiven for wondering whether Mr. Krepel did, in fact, spend all 17 of those years toiling away at the Russellville Courier.

I once ran into Krepel — digitally speaking — on the comment threads of my Web site RichardPoe.com, where he had shown up to berate me for something or other. At the time, I wrote: "You're a bit of a puzzle, Mr. Krepel. I can't tell yet whether you are a liar and dissembler or merely a dullard."

Sixteen months later, I am still wondering.
