Excellent article about Jim Robinson - Showdown: The left vs. the Web...
...but worth repeating over and over! I read the whole article for the third time! We can never hear this too many times.
My comment posted previously:
This article and thread should remain on the FR forever so anyone who needs to remember why we are all here can review it. Or it should become suggested reading for new FReepers, when they sign up so they know the impact this site can have and that they/we are not alone anymore. What a great synopsis this is of the essence and spirit of the Free Republic and its members.
We have a voice that is being heard, thanks to Jim Robinson!
When we are united with one purpose, to expose the lies and deceptions of politicians and public figures our "voice" can be heard more clearly and more loudly than all the broadcasts of paid media "spinners" who are obligated to either their employers or a cause to which they have allied themselves. We are not obligated to anyone but ourselves, and our desire for truth and justice drives and unites us. We do not need the approval of a boss or board to research and post information. We do not owe favors to political entities, and we fear no threats from those in powerful positions. Ours is a mission for finding and exposing the real story - it is that simple.
Thanks to Jim we have been empowered as "Davids" who can bring down the Goliaths in the battle of disseminating information. Those giants are not so powerful anymore as they stand guard of all the hidden agendas and attempts to create and perpetuate the lies of their cohorts who desire only to destroy our freedoms and control our thinking. We know they are paying attention by their reactions to, and retaliations toward us. It is also obvious that they are running scared and loosing ground in this war of the words that they once controlled.

Terrific Mr. Poe.
I too was there at the Supreme Court building for the 2000 Election.
I remember seeing a young college aged man with a poster that claimed President Bush was a coke addict.
Not realizing the cameras were running I impulsively confronted him and well...made the 10 news that night. Still embarrassed by it because I was indignant and destroyed him.
Thank you Jim Robinson. You've made history and hopefully continue to do so.

"It's not going to be a governor or a senator or a congressman that's going to save the American people," said Lazio. "It's going to be the people themselves that rise up.
You just cannot count on elected people, people who are well-known names, to go out there and do it for us."Lazio's statement reminds me of the last years Pennsylvania Republican primary. Too many are blaming Bush because Toomey didn't win.
Nevermind that it's the people who vote.
