Let them complain that his choice is not divers enough, then ?
As another seat on the Supreme Court opens up, nominate Janice Rodgers Brown, force this nomination on them ( in retrospect of their yelling, and complaining ) and they will look like fools and hypocrites if they oppose her appointment.

That's true, but remember how ugly the Condi Rice hearings got? I remember the "house black" and "puppet" BS I read/heard. All the President can do is pick someone who he thinks will interpret the law correctly. He will save the worrying for others.
