LOL! You are using logic - which is genetically missing in the lib make-up. In its place is a reflex that says "But that's different!" whenever they do not get their way.

Can you just imagine who environmental-wacko, French butt kissing John Kerry would have nominated?
The headlines would be so gushy and lovey-dovey.

You can be assured that not only the FBI and CIA is keeping tabs on them, but, also the Secret Service is keeping tabs on them.

Why two adopted children? Might this be a line of attack? How about the fact that they are both blond? A sign of racism? I'm just trying to think like a Democrat character assassin here.
I wonder what color hair Mary Jo Kopechne's kids would have had,.................whoops!, me forgot!! Kennedy killed her, she's dead, she never had kids!

That's true, but remember how ugly the Condi Rice hearings got? I remember the "house black" and "puppet" BS I read/heard. All the President can do is pick someone who he thinks will interpret the law correctly. He will save the worrying for others.

I watched the announcement on Fox News, which did not show the children at all.
I would love to see the video of the little boy dancing. Does anyone know what network had that? Maybe they'll have video on their website.
Thanks.

KING5 in Seattle interviewed Maria Cantwell right after the president was on, and she immediately delved into boo-hooing about how there were so many qualified women out there and she was dissapointed. The very next thing they harped about was going on about Roe V. Wade "legalizing" abortion and seeming to forget that there were a number of states that had legal abortions well before Roe V. Wade.
All in all, the emphasis seemed to be that somehow women and minorities need different law than working class white guys, or something along that line.
Idjits!!

Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts backs out of his driveway at his Chevy Chase, Md., home on Wednesday, July 20, 2005
Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts leaves his home on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, in Chevy Chase, Md. Roberts begins his confirmation campaign Wednesday to nail down Republican Senate support and overcome Democrats' fears that he would push the nation's highest court far to the right on abortion and other polarizing issues.

Oh, big time. He is their greatest nightmare!
Look at that dangerous precedence of a family! How dare he marry a woman! How dare they adopt from the Latino culture and destroy those children's legacy?
He is a right-wing homophobe! How many women have died during backstreet abortions since his nomination was announced last evening?
I need some help here from DU...I have plumb run out of over-the-top hyperbole!
To: wotan
The children are adopted from Latin America.

The selection of the Harvard-educated white man in place of O'Connor, the first woman on the nation's highest court, could open Bush to criticism that he did not do enough for diversity. Well they will be really pleased when Janice Brown is nominated next.

he said Roberts "will strictly apply the Constitution in laws, not legislate from the bench," language that Republicans often use to describe conservative, antiabortion judges.No. It's language we use to describe strict constructionists. It happens that if you interpret the constitution strictly, decisions like Roe v. Wade don't happen.
To: MikeHu
But if Bush did nominate a "homeless, transgendered, mutant, Hare Krishna, dumspter diving terrorist", MoveOn would call that person a sell out and say that they are not Homeless, transgender enough!
Their playbook is getting so old! I am waiting for Schummer to say " He is for the Powerful not for the people!"
