Don't make the mistake of conflating what a guy writes as a hired gun to what he will write as a judge.

I won't. I made that clear further down in the thread. To be honest, I don't know enough about Roberts to say the court has moved somewhat to the right.

I'd have preferred somebody with a written record, Schumer be damned. It does appeal to me that his wife is Chairman of Feminists for Life though.:-} But you know that.

Dubya has a plan. Rehnquist will be replaced as Chief Justice by a woman or an hispanic who will be a rock ribbed conservative with a record. He has a plan methinks.

I just hope he had jusged Roberst correctly when he says Robert's is a judge "who will not legislate from the bebch".

Lord I hope he has judged correctly.

Well, the rubber will meet the road when Stevens or Ginsberg go. That would have been Roberts was most needed. There really is no one else in his class, for that mission. (McConnell has some of the same qualities, but has written a bit too much as a professor, and in articles, and will be more vulnerable, when it comes to a major ideological tectonic SCOTUS shift moment.) I should have added that apparently Roberts is a person of immense personal charm, which will come through in the hearings. He will just be totally unborkable and demonizable.
