I think Roberts is about as conservative as Rhenquist. IOW, he's no Clarence Thomas, but he'll do. And a hell of a lot better than who he's replacing!
And Rhenquist on his worst days is awfully statist in his thinking, which is my big criticism of him - and Scalia, who can be awfully differential to stare decisis and to the Legislature over the constitution, despite his claims to be a fundamentalist.
Agreed! Roberts as a replacement for O'Connor makes this overall a huge win provided we get a Thomas like replacement for Rehnquist and Go from there. But I am happy with the pick for whatever the heck thats worth.
