Conservative pollster and political consultant Frank Luntz has gone on the attack against what he calls the "liberal bias” of the New York-based Jewish newspaper The Forward.
Luntz got angry after reading a Forward article about his recent report on graduate students’ attitudes toward Israel.
He sent an irate e-mail to J.J. Goldberg, the paper’s editor, pledging to disparage The Forward at meetings of Jewish donors, where Luntz often speaks, the New York Times reveals.
He wrote that perhaps "an advertising boycott of The Forward might help the publication refocus on accuracy and get it right in the future.”
Luntz had reported that many students at elite universities, who could become policy makers in the future, are anti-Israel.
But The Forward cited findings showing that support for Israel among undergraduates had grown stronger in the last two years.
"There is hostility towards Israel on college campuses that is undeniable everywhere except on the pages of The Forward,” Luntz said.
He added that the paper’s editors consistently publish articles "with their own political bias: liberal.”
Luntz said he wasn’t actually calling for a boycott of The Forward, but simply presenting his point of view to donors.
In any case, Goldberg claimed the potential financial blow would be negligible, according to the Times.
But he acknowledged that Luntz has "a big reputation. These institutions tend to trust Republicans – the sense of faith in Bush and the Republicans to defend Israel. So, I feel somewhat vulnerable.”
The Forward promoted Weasley Clark for President. Nuff said!
I only see the Forward once in a while but seems OK. Right in the middle of the road. But is right wing compared to the loony left Jewish weekly in Florida
The Forward advertises on WABC here in NY......usually late evening.
I hear their ads on the radio...usually on righty shows.
I would have figured they were a righty org, but I've never read it so I wasn't sure.
Definitely not conservative.
That's really sad, he's attacking little blue haired old ladies and they specially able daughters and granddaughters. Really doesn't say much for Luntz's mettle.

Their radio ads just make me want to vomit. They have this pompous-sounding Gentile saying that "most Jews support disengagement" and then "The Forward is the Nation's Jewish newspaper."
What they really mean by that is that it's the "Jewish" version of ultra-leftist The Nation.
Forverts used to be an old socialist, Marxist rag when it was published in Yiddish.
They broke oil-for-food a year or more before anyone else did. Only problem is no one read them.
The Sun is the best. NY is lucky to have them.
