Do you know why it was necessary for her to say it at all? Couldn't she have just said it is the "law of the land".
To me,the "settled law statement" seems to imply it is settled and final in her mind as well. That is not said but it seems implied. This may well be a clever phrase. I guess I am feeling better about it. Thanks for pointing out the obvious; right now it is settled law.
If someone could assure me she is a practicing Catholic, I would be feeling great!
