Seriously folks, how many of you stated it was Gonzales no question without any proof? You were wrong.

I thought that the pick would be (and surely will be later) Gonzales. I FEAR that Clement will vote on the court just like Gonzales would have. But Edith Jones would be a solid conservative choice that would arouse fierce Democrat opposition. I look for the Democrats to defer on Clement, with a couple of dozen exceptions. Same as it would have been with Gonzales, who is sure to come!

This is my problem. You think and you fear. You have no proof to validate either. I'm not interesting in feelings. I want facts.

I understand the source of the fear, but I have no use for it.

From what I've seen the question isn't whether she is a solid Judge in rulings but whether she is opposed to overturning bad precedent set by the Supremes if she becomes a member of that court. That is the direction to take this inquiry.

No question there are other Judges that the base would know this answer to on hearing their name. But, so far, Clement is leading the possible replacement stakes and I want to know how she feels about this. Anything else is a distraction.

It could be that Bush wants to appoint another O'Connor and thinks that given it will be months until Clement is involved in a ruling that he can get away with appoint an stealth Gonzales.

We don't actually know that Gonzales won't be appointed tonight.

The liberal media wanted Gonzales. That was the only person they talked and asked about for like three days after O'Conner retired. Everyone else was given the silent treatment. That's why nobody has ever heard of this woman until today.

It would be funny if it was someone other than Clement just to make the media look bad.
