On NRO: "As I feared, a thin record. I am sure she will be opposed by the lib-kooks, but so will anyone else." ... "Does anyone actually have some useful information — or can point to useful places that have useful information — on Edith Clement's judicial philosophy and/or key cases? I must admit, if she's the nominee, so far as I can tell her record is rather thin."

NRO has this stupid break-up of their blog into these different subject areas now so check "Bench Memos"

not very encouraging.

I wonder now what the strategy is going to be with Rehnquist. Will the left simply let Clement sail through, and save their ammo to use against Luttig replacing Rehnquist? Or has the white house tipped its hand to not wanting a fight on any SCOTUS appointments, meaning we get another "squishy" nominee to replace Rehnquist?

I wonder if Rehnquist sees what is going on, and that's why he is going to try and hang on as long as he can, to deny Bush 43 from replacing him with this formula? Maybe he's decided to take a chance on the 2008 election.

There is no track record. She's a member of the Federalist Society and reportedly has stated Roe is settled law.
