Lastly, government officials must find new and better ways to communicate America's mission abroad. This will mean embracing new ways of engaging people across the world, as the U.S. Information Agency and Radio Free Europe did during the Cold War. We will need to find ways to use the capabilities offered by the Information Age to counter the toxic images and lies that target the U.S. and to better inform the world about our nation's efforts.
Something I've been harping about for a while now.

First of all, I agree with you
Yes,,, if they can make a way were the system can't be hacked into , and reliable, then, yes, it would be better, and less weight for the troops to carry, and in some cases, they would be safer because they would know were they are on a seconds notices by GPS.
Also, if this were to come true, they would have a field advantage over the enemy.
The thing I like about RUMMY is that he takes NO BULL, and he has character.
People may think, that he is allusive at times, or evasive, but, the nature of his job commands and demands that he keep his mouth shut on certain issues and things regardless how much the annoying MSN tries to probe him for answers.
The MSN reminds me of the way that they portrayed them in the movie ( THE RIGHT STUFF ) were they had a large group of the MSN and press sounding like giant ants or locust just being a real pain in the ------ beeeeeeeep.
Regardless what you and I think of John Glen's beliefs on issues and politics, what they ( the MSN and the PRESS ) did to his wife in the movie ( if that was really the case ) and intimidated her like that, and she had a speech impediment, was just plain wrong.
I always hope to see one day, someone famous or someone get tired of the MSM and the press being a pain in the a$$ , and get their own camera and mic and poke the camera and mic in the MSM and the presses faces, and show them for the real jerks and fools that they are, giving them a taste of their own medicine.

Personally, I would LOVE it if Rummy gave a press conference every day! He is a hoot! Also, he is inspirational, I think....
BUT, I love how he gives his answers to some of the stupid questions!

I love when Rumsfeld pushes back at the Press and the Congress, that is the best! I like him. I liked John Glenn the astronaut. I was a kid when he was a Senator so I never paid much attention to his politics.

"Rumsfeld's main point is that we need an overhaul on our lamestream, anti-American, anti-military media. And he's right."
We need to scrap it and start over.

Quite timely piece considering what our liberal media is attempting to do to the President and by extinction our military.
To: Txsleuth
The liberal press and MSN may see him as being elusive when he is trying to answer a sensitive question to sensitive military questions, but, I see it in another light, as, he has to do his best to answer without letting the enemy know the mind(s) of our military thinking and plans.
Have you seen him while he is trying to answer a sensitive military question ? you can see the wheels moving in his mind and him thinking and trying to come up with the best answer he can at the particular moment.

Yes!! You are so right! Those wheels are moving all of the time, and he always answers so carefully..
I have often wondered though, if you tied his hands behind his back, if he would be able to speak! LOL
The use of his hands are one of the fascinating things about watching him!
