I have nothing good to say about the man. He was a political general.
He should have been tried for High Crimes and Treason.
It is the Generals responsibility to protect their troops. He did not. He allowed McNamara and LBJ to sacrifice our young men, my friends and neighbors.
I guess McNamara is still alive, the sob. I hope they reincarnate as Somalis.

Westmoreland wanted more troops so that America could fight the war full force, win, and go home. It was the gradual escalation policies of presidents which wouldn't allow that to happen...plus other circumstances.
