In more evidence that the effort to blame Karl Rove for "outing an undercover CIA agent" was coming unraveled, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee retracted her claim on Sunday that she knew Rove obtained the agent's name from government sources.
Asked about a letter she sent the White House demanding that Rove's security clearance be suspended, Rep. Jane Harman first insisted she was certain that the top Bush's aide's source was someone in the administration.
"There's no other way that he would know [Plame's name]," Harman argued to "Fox News Sunday's" Brit Hume.
The California Democrat theorized that there was a "gossip pool in the White House emailing each other and chatting it up." She then charged that Rove was "marketing the facts" to reporters Matthew Cooper and Robert Novak.
Hume noted, however, that according to published reports on Friday, Rove "heard about the information from reporters" - and not Bush administration colleagues.
He challenged Harman: "How do you know that's not true?"
The top House Intelligence Committee Democrat began furiously backpedaling:
"Well, I can't know absolutely that it's not true," Harman confessed, before protesting, "But it's a circle - the reporters got it from somewhere."
BTTT
hahaha. Start tap-dancing, dems. You big idiots. Rove got you once again.
Lets see, popcorn, pretzels, diet coke, yep, Im ready.
Harman occasionally appears to be sensible when she appears on Fox News. Too bad it's just appearance.
Mary Mapes Award network special.
God, they are stupid and so amazingly transparent.
And so are the sub-morons that vote for them....
Time and again, all we have to do is give the libs enough calf rope and they'll hang themselves.
I am soooooooooooo confused, Why is this an issue? If Miss Val's neighbors knew she worked for the CIA whats the big deal? She has not traveled out of the country for 5 years so she is sitting at a desk? Im sorry I just don't get the story.
Too hysterical for words totally hysterical.
She is getting her marching orders from somewhere--she usually IS a lot more discreet in her complaints about the Bush Administration....
BUT, I am convinced that someone "of importance" is directing this, otherwise why would 44 supposedly politic savvy Senators rush to the floor of the Senate a propose the most ridiculous law in the history of America!!! BEFORE, they even know the results of the investigation?
Also, WHY did this not come up at this intensity right before the election last year? If the dems KNEW all this back then...and they had to have---they WOULD NOT have let George Bush get re-elected without this being brought out!
There is something here that is just fishy--Clintons!!!!!
I don't know why it's an issue either, except the dems grasping at straws to bring down their nemesis, Karl Rove. Bet they have nightmares about him, and wish like hell they had someone like him on their side.
It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
Will pinto beans and corn bread work? If so, I'm ready too.
And it's becoming increasingly obvious that "somewhere" is Wilson himself. I'd be willing to bet a Franklin that the journalist Miller went to jail to avoid disclosing that Wilson was her source.
In the Dem's world, first you go to prison, then you have a trial, then you are indicted, then someone puts together some "evidence."
Karl, the sneaky purveyor of ammunition, has once again supplied the dims with the bullets with which they have shot themselves in the foot.
They don't catch on, do they?
