I post this since I cannot recall any news footage ever showing a dog in Iraq except those used by our military. Is this another urban legend?

I think there are dogs in Iraq but are mostly just strays wandering around.

I haven't seen any feral pigs either. Maybe a couple of dozen aplied to certain towns whould help straighten things out faster.

there were quite a few dogs wandering around Camp Victory from time to time. We think Saddam or someone in his family or in their military were keeping them as pets so this is NOT totally true.
Nice dogs too....

My son is in Iraq. He told us that the dogs are seriously mistreated by the Iraqis, and the dogs all hate the Iraqis with a passion. He also said, they love the US soldiers and have no fear of them.

Dogs are good judges of character, as well as the way someone treats them. Take that statement however you will.

Hey, maybe we have a new secret weapon to use on the terrorists -- air drop about 1 million Great Danes into Iraq -- (chuckle).

I got both of my dogs from the Jack Russell Rescue association. They were considered to be "problem" dogs but have become the best dogs Ive ever had.

Yes there are dogs in Iraq, but they are not pets like in the US, because they are considered dirty animals, like pigs, etc.
Yes, the Moooo-slums are nervous around dogs, but anywhere you go dogs are usually traveling in packs.
(My husband was in Iraq for 13 months- and had plenty of pictures of wild dogs running around)

Have a cluster of Korean restaurants open up in Iraq?
To: shrinkermd
There are thousands of dogs in Iraq. Sturdy, hearty, WILD FERAL dogs. They often run in packs. They are large and strong.
Muslims consider dogs unclean and don't domesticate them.
But yes, there are dogs.
Maybe I could tell you about the dog scavenging the bodies in Falluja, but I won't.

Also, I used to carry a knife when jogging just because of the dogs.
If you mistakenly run through a dog's territory it WILL chase and sometimes chase to catch. Standing your ground and facing a feral dog may be unnerving but running away only triggers their predatory instincts.
