Armstrong's group has dwindled to 22 riders early in the 4th climb (Col de Peyrsourde). The break is near the top and scattered in between.

I saw an interview in which he said cancer had spread, and I thought he said to his brain, but I could not determine if that was a new interview or not! I think he did say this is the last one...but if he said that last year, who knows? I think things are pretty serious with Sheryl Crow...

Hincapie looks comfortable in the lead group, with Lance following surrounded by three teammates about 11:30 behind with Rasmussen and Ullrich on his wheel.

Ooops. Looks like fun and games now. First Ullrich and Vinokurov tried to up the pace, and now Basso. So far Armstrong has responded.

5 Discovery riders in the main group, 12 minutes behind the Hincapie group on the 5th climb. Vino takes the lead. Basso attacking while Landis and Azevedo were getting water. Lance alone again, catches Basso and the pair move away from the others, Ullrich chases back on. Whoooo!

Rasmussen will have to fight like a lion if he is going ot defend his 2nd place today.
The three big guns are hunting down the escapers - but still more than 8' behind.
