Clinton Library's universal appeal seen in its 365,000 visitors (almost every Bubba voter)

Clinton Library's universal appeal seen in its 365,000 visitors

LITTLE ROCK -- The everyman appeal that Bill Clinton peddled in his political campaigns lives on at his presidential library. Among the more than 365,000 visitors who have passed through the library since November, no single demographic stands out.

"I just think he is the only president I'll ever see who will really understand me as a person, and that's why I wanted to see more," said Ava Carter, 48, a black Democrat traveling with James D. Stearns, 55, a white Republican.

**SNIP**

The more popular features of Clinton's library are his gifts from foreign dignitaries, a replica of the Oval Office, touch-screen links to key policies and a continually rolling videotape of his more light-hearted moments.

**SNIP**

Carter, who described herself and Stearns as "the Mary Matalin and James Carville of our apartment complex" in Dallas, said her trip to the Clinton Library was months in the making.

"I'd never even been to Arkansas, but last year we planned to go to Clinton's birth home in Hope, up to Hot Springs (where Clinton grew up) and here," Carter said. "James said, 'Sure, let's go."'

**SNIP**

"Of the 41 million vehicles that pass by this stretch of interstate a year, 4 to 5 million are first-time passersby; that's a big plus when the newness wears off," Rutherford said.

Rutherford says the continuing popularity of Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., should sustain the library's buzz longer than the others. Yesawich says it would be a mistake to count on that because other ex-presidents have been in the public eye without adding to their museums' attendance figures.

Ahh...Unity. How sweet it is!

That can still be accomplished without human contact - no?

I wonder if they fudged the number of visitors like they did the economic #'s for 8 years?

It's sad that the Blacks will never understand that he is a 'flim-flam' man!

I have never been to any Presidential library.
----
I have been to one -- Ronald Reagan's...and it was a moving experience, especially knowing what we do about him and his accomplishments.

The Clinton Library is a monument to a dark, evil period in the history of this country.

Interesting these visitor figures are roughly on par with those at the Reagan Library.

Consider also the Reagan's library is located on an isolated hillside near a congested freeway on the west coast whereas Clinton is near the center of the country by interstate highways which are easy access almost anytime.

And if Clinton drew more visitors what would it prove? Porno theatres get better attendance than symphony orchestras. The movie Deep Throat was less expensive to produce and grossed more than War and Peace. And if I were to have live sex in Times Square, I'd get far more attention than I'm doing raising a family and paying taxes.

The local news last week reported there were 20,000 visitors a week to that UGLY THING. I think it is a lie. I have never seen anyone there any of the times I have passed that UGLY THING and that's been several times a month.

Just remember it's a Clinton LIEbrary and the CLINTONS always lie about everything. Don't believe everything you read especially from Newsday when it comes to the Clintons. They lie.

Yes...and I was being sarcastic. Those are good points. You're allright V. No matter what they say about you. :) More sarcasm.

David Hammer, AP - Clinton apologist

The Associated Press Caught on a Falsified Anti-Bush Story

Instapundit nails the Associated Press on a false report that Republicans booed when President Bush wished Bill Clinton speedy recovery from his heart operation.

First, he gives clear evidence that the report was false.

Then he reports on the AP’s attempts to cover its tracks, revising the story without noting it was a correction and “pulling the byline” of the reporter who filed the false report

WEST ALLIS, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) on Friday wished Bill Clinton (news - web sites) “best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery.” “He’s is in our thoughts and prayers,” Bush said at a campaign rally. Bush’s audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them. Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath. Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and “the forward- looking spirit that Americans like in a president.”

Baolded are the two sentences because if you read the AP’s update, it disappeared without any explanation. Unfortunately, it was too late to keep the original report to show up in the print media, meaning if you read the newspapers, you’re going to see the original and false story. Fortunately, Drudge carries the audio from the event proving that the story is completely false.

So what’s going on here? Was Hays in Wisconsin reporting, or in New York? What role did Ron Fournier, Frank Eltman, David Hammer, and Marc Humbert have in this story? There are five reporters on the hook for this misreporting, surely one of them will want to clear their name.

Maybe some retired Arkansas Freepers could for a week set up shop outside and count the number of visitors that enter that hallowed hall of debauchery.

They could have a double wide mobile home put on the parking lot to use as their base of operations. Be sure to put it on stilts, so as to blend in with the liebary.
