Calm down, sparkplug. I'm not "standing up" for Wilson. But nothing is gained by exaggerating the facts, which Horowitz (a man I greatly respect) is doing in his article.

From everything I can glean, Wilson came back with evidence that appeared to bolster the President's position. Only later did he lie about his findings.

But saying flatly that Plame sent Wilson is just untrue, and saying this discredits our position. Yes, Plame recommended her husband because she thought the uranium story was "crazy," but ultimately a person of higher authority made the call. But, as Novak originally wondered, why would someone in the administration send an a skeptical enemy to investigate the uranium claim? And as Rove confirmed, they didn't.

Little newbie, it is long past time for you to start to do some actual research into the "PLAME AFFAIR".

You are stating things which 1) aren't factual 2) out of order 3) of your own imaginings 4) being obtuse.

I laid it all out for you. There have been TWO YEARS worth of info about this case posted to FR, none of which you appear to know. You are being completely illogical and naive. Oh yes, you are also LYING THROUGH YOUR TEETH!

It was NOT Karl Rove who confirmed that neither Cheney nor Cheney's office sent Wilson!

It was NOT Valerie, the blundering Mata Hari wannabe, who thought that the YELLOW CAKE story was a crock!

And on and on and on...........

Go read up on this mess and THEN post and not before.

You are right about "who gave the ultimate YES to Wilson's going." I have many unanswered questions. For starters? Why would Plame recommend her husband for this task? Did she wish him to be publically stripped? She had to know, his going and doing what he did would unmask her. Her "bosses" had to know this too.

Dig this:

Joe Wilson's Credibility Problem

Committee staff asked how the former ambassador could have come to the conclusion that the ‘dates were wrong and the names were wrong’ when he had never seen the CIA reports and had no knowledge of what names and dates were in the reports,” the Senate panel said. Wilson told the panel he may have been confused and may have “misspoken” to reporters. The documents—purported sales agreements between Niger and Iraq—were not in U.S. hands until eight months after Wilson made his trip to Niger.

The person who was higher up in authority than Plame was apparently Alan Foley, who has already resigned from his post.
