Democrats Ask Steele To Skip Rove Event --Lt Gov Steele, R, Black

Democrats called yesterday for Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R) to cancel a fundraiser this month featuring Karl Rove, the White House deputy chief of staff under intense scrutiny in the case of a CIA official whose identity was disclosed.

"Michael Steele has to decide whether that is the kind of person who reflects his values and those of Maryland," said Phil Singer, a spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, a Washington-based group. "We urge Michael Steele to do the right thing and cancel his event."

A spokesman for Steele, who is exploring a bid for the U.S. Senate, said the July 26 fundraiser in Washington remains on his schedule. Others allied with Steele laughed off the suggestion.

"Are they afraid he's going to raise too much money?" asked GOP strategist Carol Hirschburg.

News reports in recent days disclosed that Rove discussed the role of CIA official Valerie Plame with a reporter. Rove has said he did not know Plame's name or leak it to anyone. The issue was the subject of a combative White House briefing Monday.

Steele has been heavily courted to run for the Senate seat by national Republicans, and Democrats are hopeful that his association with Rove could tarnish him in a state in which Democrats have nearly a 2-to-1 edge in voter registration.

"Presumably, if he goes through with the fundraiser, he'll have to defend ...Rove, which could cause problems down the road," said Jim Jordan, a national Democratic strategist. "If he cancels, it's a tremendous embarrassment for the White House."

Steele's office referred calls to the National Republican Senatorial Committee... Dan Ronayne, a committee official who has been acting as Steele's spokesman, said the Democrats' action "shows that they're very concerned about ...Steele. I'm sure they'd like him to cancel all his fundraisers."...

Every policy and or philosophy promoted by the liberals during this administration has been proved wrong. Their attempts to destroy people have not been successful. They have as of today relied on lies and exposed themselves as nothing but complete liars. Where to next?

I have to believe that Mr Joe Public is really getting sick and tired of these tactics.

Although a frightening thought is the old adage of "repeat the lie often enough...."

" Others allied with Steele laughed off the suggestion."

I don't know if it has yet dawned on the Democrats, but, this week has been one of high hilarity - at their expense.
From the antics of Pelosi and Reid to the public breakdown of Terry Moran and David Gregory to the SNL spoof starring Schumer and the schvitzing Joe Wilson , I've had many LOL moments.
Summer reruns are boring, thankfully we have the Democrats for entertainment.
I see the Democrats as cartoon figures like Wiley Coyote- covered in black soot, their hair fried and sizzling, while the Rove Runner goes beep beep in the background.

I know. I know. I'm constantly correcting my husband's family about things they say that they've just heard on TV.

Amen to that! I've seen Steele on TV a couple of times. I don't know a lot about him, but I can say that I was impressed with him.

Steele should do it if the RATS promise not to attend fund raisers attended by impeached Presidents or their spouses.

Post o the thread.

I keep waiting for the Republicans to go on the offensive ...and nothing happens. All I hear is people like Paul Begala, that lying sack of camel excrement, saying that Republicans want to kill him and his family, and Howard Dean telling me that I've never done an honest days work in my life.

And all the Repubs do, is react.

****"Presumably, if he goes through with the fundraiser, he'll have to defend ...Rove, which could cause problems down the road," said Jim Jordan, a national Democratic strategist. "If he cancels, it's a tremendous embarrassment for the White House." *******

Now we can easily see how dirty the Senate campaign wil be in Maryland, They will attack Steele no matter what he does, because they want Kweasy sitting in the Senate.
