Well, there is a difference between not opposing a senator hiring a guy because he's a homosexual, and supporting laws to force a senator (or anyone else) to hire a guy because he's a homosexual. Or forcing society to fundamentally change the very foundation of civilization, marriage.

That's where the platform planks come in.
